While Walt Disney Studios is already a HUGE industry, Disney has branched out into other franchises like Star Wars and Marvel!
And, now that Disney has acquired 20th Century Fox, there have been a few changes around there as well!
According to The New York Times, Disney has officially dropped the word “Fox” from the 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight studios!
The “Fox” name has been around for over 85 years in the Hollywood film industry. Now, the companies will be renamed simply 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures under the Disney corporation. However, the well-known trumpet fanfare and opening sequence will continue to be a part of the opening credits.
Downhill will be the first Searchlight Pictures movie, and The Call of the Wild will be the first 20th Century Studios movie with the new names and logos in theaters this February.
We’re excited to see what doors Disney is going to open with 20th Century and Searchlight! And, you can keep up with all the film news happening by subscribing to our newsletter!

Rob from Canada says
Under the Murdoch / News Corp. regime, the studio name WAS changed to 21st Century Fox. But Disney, wanting to distance themselves as much as possible from Rupert Murdoch and Fox News and News Corp, changed it back to Twentieth Century Fox when they bought the studio, and now they are getting rid of the “Fox” name.
