Earlier this week, Disney had us all hyperventilating a bit when they announced Cinderella Castle would be undergoing a “royal makeover!”

And at the time, we didn’t know many details about the transformation other than Magic Kingdom’s park icon would be getting a new paint job with a soft, rose gold pinkish hue and sparkly gold trim! But in light of park guests’ growing concerns, Disney’s made few comments to ease our worried minds!
On the same Disney Parks Blog post where Disney initially announced the big Cinderella Castle refurb, Magic Kingdom Vice President Jason Kirk has posted responses to some of the commentators.
For instance, in this statement he posted below, he wrote, “while temporary construction equipment may be present while Cinderella Castle receives its royal makeover, it will remain uncovered and we will do our best to ensure guests are still able to capture special photos and memories in the iconic spot.”

Jason Kirk also went on to comment that Cinderella’s Royal Table and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique would remain open during the refurb — so don’t cancel your castle plans just yet!

When harder pressed about the timeframe of the project, Jason Kirk stuck to his guns and restated, “Our work is expected to begin in the coming weeks and be complete before the end of summer.”

Magical Kingdom’s castle shows “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” and “Happily Ever After” will also still be performed! We’ll keep an eye out for other statements released by Disney regarding Cinderella Castle, but for now, you can probably breathe a little easier!

I think they learned from Disneyland. They refurbished there and literally put up a facade of the caste right in front of it and everyone had to take their castle pics in front of a picture of the castle! 😂
I am happy about the Cinderella Castle.; changes that will starting soon. There is a new baby in my family and we will be bringing her to the parks when she turns 3.
Traveling over 3000 miles in May to bring my granddaughters to Disney with reservations for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Praying the magic is not tarnished by the refurb
I love the Firework show . I love it so much I purchased extra tickets during the week I am visiting in May to go into the park just for the show. I am absolutely still worried that my experience will not be as wonderful now because of the equipment being present during the show. Things happen however and I am determined not to let this rain on my Disney parade. I hope there will be advice on where the best place is to go to view the show with minimal impact from the equipment on the view. Hint hint AJ!

I wonder how Walt would feel knowing that his dream has become an impossibility for so many. Disney company has outpriced itself to so many of us lower income and fixed income seniors and families. We visited the parks and stayed at the resorts at least once a year or more. My world was/is disney my house my clothes my everything disney. But now the visits have been taken away from me by money grabbing executives who have never experienced low income in their lives. I only wish Walt was here to see it. Would he object to the loyal lower income people being excluded? I certainly think so.
At $99 a person for the HEA dessert party, I certainly hope things go on as planned. We are visiting early March. My wish is the little girl coming for her 1st visit gets to see Tink fly. I’m hoping for more on the ground info in the coming days while I’m still within my window to cancel. With all that said, we will still be in Disney after all!! So excited!
Dorothy hit it on the nose! My husband and I used to go to DisneyWorld at least once a year! We used to stay at the Polynesian for $99 a night or the Golf Resort for $99 a night including breakfast buffet. Being from Chicago, this was a real trip. 15-20 years ago we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge for $159-200 a night. Now those same rooms go for $500 a night. Who wants to pay that much for a place to sleep? I guess lots do but we no longer can afford to pay the Disney prices.
I’m like Dorothy—-my house is Big Figs and Disney themed stuff—–lots of my clothes are Disney—-mostly “vintage” now because I can’t pay $40 for a tshirt……very sad……
Dorothy, we are in the exact same situation! I know prices will always increase, but they have gone up so much higher and faster than the cost of living, and I don’t think they realize that they would have even more profit from increased volume if the prices went down instead of up. It’s the ultimate in class discrimination!
Increased volume? People already complain about how crowded it is. I went during “value” season and it was almost impossible to walk around MK.
I think Disney should give price breaks for seniors
I’ve been once a year for the last 20 years, until 2017. I’ve been saving since then hoping to go this year, but even nickel and diming, I’m not sure I’ll be able to afford to go this year. The first week I spent at Pop Century, I paid $625 (room only) for 6 nights. That same room type and same week is now $1125 plus parking fee. I truly miss my annual Disney vacations, but looks like it may be 2020, maybe.
I agree with Wendy seniors should get a discount.
I go almost every year and I’m not rich. I plan a year ahead and pay little by little. If I make my reservation while I’m still at Disneyworld I usually get a bounce back offer that is usually free dining. You just need the initial deposit of 250.00 and the rest can be paid in installments.
phew!!! I am so happy to hear that the castle won’t be covered. We (myself, my partner, sister and brother in law) are all coming early May and we’ve been so excited for the trip for months now. Having worked for Disney back in 2008 its fair to say its a special place for me, so to see it in its full beauty makes it that extra magical.

Nooo please!! no again, we just book our vacations 3 weeks ago, for july 20,,, and last year that happen in our vacations to disneyland 🙁 i take a princess picture to my daughter and dad with a picture of the castle behind, 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽 and i was so excited to recreating the same picture but with this amazing castle i can’t believe it soooo sad😞😢😢
Dani, we updated more recently; Disney says they will not be entirely covering the Castle.
I am devastated that the magic will be tarnished when my 2 granddaughters, aged 7 & 3, see Cinderella’s castle for the first time in April, with scaffolding around it! I am in my 60th year and have saved a long, long time for this 20grand holiday and this has taken the shine from it. We are having breakfast in the castle too so will be up close and personal with the scaffolding!. I’m so upset.
Kim, Disney has said the Castle will not be completely covered. Hopefully some of the magic will remain for you.
I totally agree with Dorothy and Wendy. Living in Florida, we typically went 3-4 times per year. Sometimes more. We used to take our granddaughters with us on our trip as well as solo trips for my husband and I. Now, as a senior, we have totally been priced out. I 100% agree that seniors should get a discounted rate. We’re living on our retirement income and Disney clearly doesn’t want us there anymore. I too have Disney items all over my house and on my clothes, but won’t be getting anything new ~ either from the parks or the Disney store. And saw that prices just went up again. Very sad.
Hopefully what they will do is do the work at night like they usually do.
Then reduce the amount of things they keep up around the castle during the day.
I have been saving for 6 years and thinking about cancelling due to this until its over.
