According to the Tampa Bay Times, all restaurants across Florida may only serve by takeout or delivery effective immediately as a precautionary measure at this time per a new executive order by Governor Ron DeSantis.
In addition to restaurant service changes, gyms across the state will also be closed.
Governor DeSantis stated that all licensed restaurants and food establishments must “suspend on-premises food consumption for customers.” Kitchens may remain open for takeout and delivery, with the same applying for alcohol. This order, the Tampa Bay Times shares, “lifts some restrictions on restaurants to allow for the sale of drinks with to-go meals.”
This new order is an update to one that was issued earlier this week, which mandated bars and nightclubs to close for 30 days. Restaurants, however, could host guests at table seating at 50% of the restaurant’s capacity.
And end-date for the order was not stated. Also according to the Tampa Bay Times: “A spokeswoman for DeSantis wrote in an email that the measures are seen as ‘necessary to protect the public health, safety and welfare.’ ”
