There have been A LOT of questions about when Disney World will be re-opening.
And, along with representatives from other theme parks, Josh D’Amaro has been working on the Re-Open Florida Task Force to determine the best protocols for opening up public spaces again. After the recent task force meeting, there were a lot of discussions surrounding the safest ways to provide access to cruise lines, restaurants, airports, and theme parks across the state.
But, now the Re-Open Florida Task Force is looking for YOUR input if you’re a Florida resident!
According to the Orlando Sentinel, now you can give your opinion about re-opening procedures, health precautions, and Florida’s economy by going to the Task Force’s online portal. The form will give you the opportunity to speak up about “tourism, healthcare, agriculture, construction, and education” as well as provide any general feedback.
So, make sure to give your input since the Re-Open Florida Task Force and the state’s government will be taking your thoughts into consideration!
Take a look at how Disney World may be reopening in gradual stages according to the Re-Open Task Force!

When do you think that Disney World will re-open? Let us know in the comments below!
Bev says
The park should have limited guests initially….Florida residents or maybe only Florida passholders only if they are masked. Social distancing must be ENFORCED. Restaurants initially should be take out. I think perhaps by June we can start reopening wisely.
Cindy says
Hi I’m not a Florida resident but a frequent visitor of the Disney World. My family and I were supposed to be on vacation April 3rd to 13th and staying at the All Star Movies Resort. We have now rescheduled for June 13th to 19th. And we are really hoping to still come. I have a 6 year old daughter and 2 year old son that has had disappointment so much these last few months. Of course I want to be safe and my family safe but I have no reason to think Disney wouldn’t be the safest place for us and a much needed escape from this insanity. We cant live in our homes forever. Faith over fear. I say open and take the mecceaary precautions. We will be there as soon as you open and hope we can make our June trip!!
Caren Newman says
I hope soon, if taking temps maybe it should be done in the resort lobby and then go directly to bus stop. That way if you have fever you don’t board a bus and go back to your room. Mask are not a option, it’s to hot. They need hand sanitizers stations by every trash can and on and off every ride. Possibly hand each passenger a wipe cloth before they board a ride to wipe down hand bars and seats.
Brandi says
I think they should open ASAP but will safety precautions.
Barbara Kottmeier says
I think they should reopen when a rapid results test is available. Taking temperatures and health screens are both unreliable. Many people said they would take ibuprofen or acetaminophen to lower their temp. People will lie on a health screen.
Amy Gormican says
Try one park at a time. MK. I feel people who have been safely staying at home and feel good. Should be able to come to the parks. ANYONE with underlying health issues should not come. Obviously precautions need to be in place for distancing with entry to the parks and transportation to and from. Masks must be worn. Florida residence first and families of cast members. For trial opening.
Stephanie says
Right away
verna flood panaccio says
The US, the individual states, and specific businesses cannot and will not be able to just “flick a switch” and reopen… It will be gradual and it SHOULD be gradual…
Jim says
Open the parks up and let only people staying on disney property or dvc members in the parks only .
Tracey Jacquart says
I’m not a Florida resident but an avid Disney fan that goes very often.
I think I can argue against most proposals that are being put forward to prevent this virus spreading, the fact is it’s never going to go completely.
Disney attracts millions of people because of its magic which my taking away shows, parades etc is going to spoil a big part of that magic.
6ft gaps between people will never work people just won’t stick to it.
Cleaning rides in between each go would cause horrendous queues, I go in the summer when queues are already horrendous this would make them so much more.
Plus every wall, railing shelf in the shops bin toilet door bench etc etc would also need to be cleaned because everyone is always touching or sitting so your never going to be able to sanitize everything that’s touched.
Wearing masks will be a nightmare in the heat, I’m a asthmatic and having a mask on my face would cause me anxiety, I also suffer with pressure urticaria so wearing a mask with elastic would cause hives on my face and if they spread which they do to my mouth then I also suffer anaphylactic so this would not be suitable for me.
Temperature checks, what if someone has a ear infection or throat infection and present with a temperature?.
Reducing the riders on rides with virtual queues is unfair to those who don’t get to ride them and have paid the same money, will they give a refund?
I believe the best way is to put hand sanitizers at every ride and food outlet and hope that everyone will use them.
I think reduce the capacity is a good idea but that’s because it gets to busy anyway.
I would then open and if you choose to go fine and if you don’t and want to wait then fine too.
All the restrictions are just not doable not if you want to have the same magical experience.
Lisa says
Yes reopen , slowly . Limit the amount of guest , maybe start with annual pass holders for a month and see how it goes .
D guillen says
2021 we need to keep crowds to a minimum
Anthony J Verhagen says
I’d sure like to know when Fort Wilderness is going to open. I see no reason why it should have closed in the first place since Campers and quite a distance apart
Emma Read says
Hi,
In relation to re open at maybe reduced capacity how will that even work?
It means rushing every morning so you first in so you don’t get turned away.
I mean the tickets aren’t cheap and when people have come far and wide it means a lot of visitors will be wanting refunds.
Let’s face it flying all that, way having say a 14night holiday not getting in every day?
What about people travelling how about ppl like myself travelling with a person who has disabilities and health issues do not getting into parks everyday be no point visiting?
What ppl staying in the parks hotels get priority?
We were meant to be flying out tomorrow for 3cweeks but had to change it to mid Jan 2021 hoping it will be re open then.
Ardith Schmidtchen says
We had reservations in April, changed to Nov. However, being over 60 with 2 medical conditions, my husband and I won’t feel safe until there is widespread immunization for Covid-19. If DW opens by November, we will change our reservations.
Jack ogren says
Sept. When kids go back to school. There will be a lot less traffic than and a
easier opening
Geoffrey Ramsey says
Have people on Disney Property go to the parks early and late. 7 AM to 11 AM and 5 PM to 9PM (must leave the park at 11 AM to 5 PM)
Have Florida residents use the parks from 11 AM to 5 PM
I think this is a fair division of hours and it makes sense that on property park users can go back to their rooms.
Florida people don’t need to come early, or stay late.
Magalie says
Big resorts should have from now on an elevator operator in each guest’s elevator to limit the number of people touching the buttons
JoAnn Pio says
Not ready! Maybe in the fall,we need to make sure coronavirus is out of here
Ella says
I would try Disney Springs first and not the whole areas. Some Stores should be closed and only 10 allowed at one time . Not until the fall and coronavirus on the way out. Why start going here and starting it all over again.
Elaine Ault says
I was in Disney World in February this year, 19th through the 25th. I came home VERY sick with fever, massive body aches, headache, dry cough. I didn’t(couldn’t) leave my house then for 15 days. There were no tests for corona virus in Feb in the UP of MI. I have not been able to get a serum test for antibodies either.
There were people in our gondola from CA, WA, NY, on various days. It was our preferred method to get around except when we had to take a bus (to Animal Kingdom, etc).
Your governor has touted early opening of parts of FL. but this could backfire in a big way in the coming weeks. I am a retired Emergency Dept./Trauma RN. I won’t be coming back to WDW for maybe a year or more depending on what we see with the COVID progression or flattening of the curve. We’re not done yet with this horrid disease. Thank You.
Wayne Taggart says
Why would Disney rush their reopening? As a family attraction, why would they want to risk exposing families and especially children to covid19 contamination when a neighboring County (Osceola) has a mandatory mask requirement? I believe Disney understands how lawsuits work. Other than from locals, who would be able to visit the parks when there are so many travel restrictions?
No amount of cleaning surfaces will make it safe for asymptomatic guests to contaminate others. Physical distancing is imperfect at the best of times. Better to be safe than sorry. Maybe by July 4!
Marie Polinski says
I would limit number of people, but also do what you do on cruise ships Clorox wipes everywhere. In line, in stores out of stores. In restaurants out of restaurants. Wipe everything as you always do. Go slowly. Make mickey masks to buy or give the first day. Wow what a collective item. I have a Pluto mask my neighbor made me from a dog bandana. Love you guys be safe and slow
.
Irene says
Simply put, Disney should not reopen until January, 2021.
Linda Schneider says
I think Disney should start opening May 15. Open sections at a time then by June 1 have the parks going full-strength. There should not be 1 cast member standing around. Everyone should be cleaning SOMETHING at all times. Hire extra to help that THATS all they do.
Concerned says
I think they should wait till November/December. We as a family are huge Disney people we go at least 2/3 time a year and we are worried about it being open to soon with the large amount of people that go to the parks, also to be safe with all the rides and extra.
Marsha says
Disney should open June 1st with certain rules such as masks and social distancing.
Marsha says
Disney should open June 1st.
.
Cheryl says
Too soon. As a castmember with elderly parents in mind i would not want to return to soon and be affected. We cant afford spreading to castmembers and their families. Too contagious.
Tom says
With how to deal with distancing issues, attendance volume and capacities, food preparation and service, hotel and park special cleaning process, ride selection to name a few, Disney would not be able to have enough revenue to support the opening of the parks and hotels. The radical change in the parks behavior and the learning curve with staff and the public may be too much to be a success. I say spring of 2021 if not the Fall of 2021 is when it will be profitable again to open.
Jennifer Hornsby says
It’s only for Floridians. I tried to comment. 🙁
Frank Rose says
Everyone has forgotten the reason for the shutdown. It was to “flatten the curve”, prevent the hospitals from becoming overwhelmed and avoid a projected mortality rate of more than 2 million from the virus. Since then, the curve has been flattened, the hospitals have NOT been overwhelmed, and the mortality rate is much lower than the experts predicted. Now everyone seems to think we should remain shutdown until we get a vaccine to guarantee that no one ever gets the virus. But we don’t have a vaccine for SARS , and we may never have a vaccine for this virus. So should we hide in our homes forever hoping to be saved by a vaccine that may never materialize? It’s easy for the government bureaucrats to say we should extend the shutdown. No matter how long the shutdown lasts, they will continue to get their paychecks and perks. But for those who are out of work and struggling to pay their bills, it’s a different story.
Bill d says
Disney should do a soft re-opening with restrictions to safeguard its guests n employees. A soft opening for June 1st to mid July for Florida residents only then mid July to mid September for the rest of the country. At that point a re-evaluation for the rest of the year should be done also with the outside chance of the virus returning. Let’s hope it doesn’t . International guests may have to wait till January 1, 2021 to begin to come to Disney. We all know how crowded it gets during the holidays n social distancing would be impossible to do. That’s my opinion.
Debbie says
I agree that Disney and any large public gatherings like amusement parks, concerts and sporting events should remain closed until probably 2021 or until a vaccine or treatment are available. It’s just not safe.
Dave says
Completely agree with you Frank. Irene, sorry as a health care business owner, most are at limits now to be beyond the point of no return of going under for good. The risky population should should self quarantine if they prefer and the rest of the healthy should resume normal life with obvious protections. No one wears masks during flu season that kills 40-60,000/yr do they? Do seniors stay in during the winter let alone all get flu shots? We will not have any vaccine til next yr and even then only 50% will most likely get it anyway. People know every yr tens of thousands die from flu yet don’t get the flu shot. Hypocrites can’t push for quarantine now while do nothing every flu season and “take their chances”. Hopefully everyone realizes the numbers are skewed. If you are on hospice with brain cancer and get tested and have Covid and then die, your marked down as cause of death, Covid not the brain cancer! The country is relying on alcohol (up 250%) to cope, drug use is way up, and suicide is way up. We have to strike a balance where we keep the risky population where 95% of deaths are occurring in continued quarantine, and allow the healthy strong immunity people with no co-morbidities should resume normal life to keep our economy from collapsing.
Minnie 09211991 says
Open up the whole world! Everyone matters and all businesses matter. I have lived most of my life on the basis of “Better Together” but being forced into shut down mode is just demoralizing! Live your life with LOVE in your heart, always. Disney will ALWAYS have a special place in my soul. Where else can you go to experience the world without having to leave AMERICA? Land of the free and home of the brave! But do it legally!
Where else can you leave the real world behind and during your stay, see the world through the eyes of a child? My very favorite memories are of Disney! Go BIG or go home!
My dream is to stay at Grand Floridian. But I doubt there is an unappealing place to stay on property! Always DREAM in Disney.
Gigi says
Re-open in July with limiting the amount of people.
Julie says
I believe it is too early..do not open until June 1 2020.
Jack says
We have January 2021 WDW reservations but that feels pretty iffy right now as we’re still learning new things about the virus. I’m not going to risk my life for a Disney trip.
Arlene says
Obviously – no one that has replied to this has had the coronavirus affect them or someone in their family. I guarantee you if a loved one close to you got sick with this deadly virus or spread it to several people in your family you would be singing a different song. It’s easy to say let’s open everything up when it’s not you that has a relative dying in the hospital. There have been whole families that have lost 4-5 family members in just a few weeks because one person contracted the coronavirus and then spread it to others in their family. It’s very selfish and small minded to think only about yourself during this pandemic. What good is a business or jobs or movies or haircuts if you aren’t alive to enjoy it? There is a vaccine for the flu, there is no vaccine yet for the coronavirus which means it can still be rapidly spread. It’s foolish to expose yourself to something or someone which might be deadly in the end or might kill someone you love. True, some businesses may close and many are being financially affected about this. But money can always be gotten, businesses can always be restarted, but once a human life is loss it can NEVER be replaced.
Deb says
Do not open Disney until at least 2021 hopefully this virus will gone and not coming back
Kevin H Jones says
And we all should take some responsibility for our own sanitary practices. I cannot even tell you how many grown men, who should know better, that I have seen skip washing their hands when leaving the restroom. Even in the parks. There is always one disease lurking that our children can be inoculated for, Hepatitis A, that we adults are alway just one missed handwashing away from contracting in public places. They don’t give the vaccine to adults, because we are expected to be smart enough to wash our hands. Just because some idiots don’t wash their hands, doesn’t mean that I cannot protect myself by washing my own. I have always vampire coughed, as I was raised properly. I see from the fear displayed here, that many would have the rights, of those of us who do what is right and proper, stripped away without a second thought, because of people who could just as easily die from the flu, or any one of a handful of diseases for which there are no vaccines, all for a false sense of security.
Frustrated says
Don’t open till November/December
theresa thomason says
I believe June 1st is a safe opening date. Let’s get through May look at the cases of the virus and continue to be safe. If people want to visit Disney world start with Florida residents only and take their temp’s at hotels and Parks. Open the parks and let us decide if we want to visit.
Marie says
For as much as I love disney and sadly had to cancel several stays .. I dont think the public opinion should be considered when or even is a concern when to reopen the parks or what to do when they open. None of us are experts and on the contrary are very biased when it comes to Disney. I would love it for it to open tomorrow but the reality of this situation is not that simple. It is unfortunate that this is happening during the advent of one of the greatest celebrations to occur in WDW but we have to err on the side of caution and be mindful of research and experts. Safety should be the number one concern now. Stay safe!
PAT CREMINS says
WHEN DISNEY OPENS THE FIRST 6 MONTHS BE FOR USA FOLKS ONLY,,,,, ALLOW HALF THE CROWDS
ONLY DISNEY RESORTS GUESTS….. SEE IF THE VIRUS STAYS OUT OF WDW,,,,THAN OPEN TO ALL IF IT ALL GOES WELL GOOD LUCK…..
Maria says
Open up the gates and let guests decide if they want to go or not
Of course with reduced capacity and measures in place to give everyone a sense of safety and keep the haters happy
Cast members need to get back to work to support their families
Personally I’d be on the first plane that leaves London to Orlando
I work on the frontline so like a lot of the population probably immune to this virus and any other virus out there too 😁
Matt Johnson says
I say open right away. Possibly with only 3/4 capacity. There would be no gate sales for tickets. Only people with pre bought tickets would be allowed in. Season pass holders would have to get a printed ticket also so you know how many people are going on any given day. Mabe Disney could give everyone that passes through the gate a small bottle of hand sanitizer and make masks optional if someone wants to bring their own.
