We all have our own favorite forms of Disney Transportation that are a must-do during our trip to Disney World. But, Disney also has such a beautiful atmosphere filled with trees, lagoons, and flowers that we LOVE taking the time to walk around the property.

And we’re getting closer and closer to being able to combine a fun ramble around the property with transporting ourselves to Magic Kingdom via the Grand Floridian Walkway! The new pathway will allow guests to walk straight from the Grand Floridian to the Magic Kingdom’s entrance on a special direct path.
As we’ve kept an eye on construction, we’ve seen Disney get closer and closer to opening this high anticipated sidewalk! On our way to the Magic Kingdom today to catch all the spooky entertainment and treats, we spotted the newly paved sidewalk that guests will use from the Grand Floridian to the Magic Kingdom.

It appears that the sidewalk will lead guests to the area where people enter and exit the Monorails before they reach the entrance to the park.
The sidewalk is yet another recent indicator that this walkway may be opening soon — along with signage right outside of the Magic Kingdom.

The tent is likely a security and temperature checkpoint for guests headed into the Magic Kingdom.

We did stay at the Grand Floridian about 20 years ago and it was quite lovely. This walkway is a definite plus.
One of the most enjoyable things we do at Disney World is touring the hotels, so even if we’re not staying at GF, the walkway is still a convenience.
The walkway to the Grand Floridian is scheduled to open in November, I’m thinking on the 20th. I got this information directly from a cast member at bell services during our stay on September 13th.
My Daughter and I stay at the Grand Floridian everytime we go to Disney!! We always wondered why there wasn’t a walkway. She was in a wheelchair and it was hard to push up the hill to get the monorail when leaving the park. I love this hotel and she did too!!
