At a press conference this morning, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Florida is moving into Phase 3 of reopening.
One significant aspect of Phase 3 is that restaurants will no longer be subject to capacity restrictions (which were previously set at 50% in Phase 2). Phase 3 is effective immediately.
Under Phase 3, Governor DeSantis shared that local governments will require state approval if they wish to restrict the reopening of a restaurant.
Additionally, Phase 3 will allow locations such as bars, pubs, and nightclubs which earn more than 50% of sales from alcohol to operate at full capacity, with limited social distancing guidelines. And do note, that the Orange County mask mandate remains in place in Phase 3.Â
In April 2020 it was proposed under Phase 3 that “Theme parks may return to normal operations with limited social distancing protocols.”Â
As we discussed in a previous article, when it comes to Disney World dining locations and guest capacity, even though the state has lifted capacity restrictions, that doesn’t necessarily mean Disney will be changing their current capacity limitations in the immediate future. But we will be keeping you posted as this story develops.

I am hoping that Disney will not return to full capacity yet and will continue to require masks. Many epidemiologist think DeSantis has jumped the gun. There is still lots of concern about a second surge. Cleaning protocols, social distancing , and limits on guests still need to be maintained til the impact of opening the state is seen.

I will be canceling our Thanksgiving week if Disney follows through with phase 3. We have been twice, for 1 week each time, over the summer and felt very safe. It is just way too early to be acting as if this is under control. Hopefully Disney will take this seriously too.

Also he over rode mask restrictions!!!

The very careless move by Ron DeSantis provided me with a reason to avoid The State Of Florida next week (WDW visit).
It now becomes one of the most risky places in America if not the world (to visit).
While the increased case load may assist to keep voters at home for November 3rd; it is successful already in keeping this visitor away.

We are literally flying down there at THIS time next Saturday! I am pleading Disney (and Disney Springs) to keep the social distancing and mask rules in place at their restaurants. I don’t think they will have enough Cast Members back from furlough anyway in time BUT those few restaurants we are planning on dining for dinner “off property” may be canceled IF they go to 100% capacity next week!!!!
That being said, we will have a great time because we’ve been looking forward to this trip since our April trip was canceled. Once we get home, we’re going to 14-day quarantine, sell our Orlando timeshare, and never return to Florida until their leadership (or lack thereof) gets their act together!!!!!

Have you guys by chance heard anything about Victoria & Albert’s reopening? I was really hoping to take my wife there for our 30th wedding anniversary on December 22nd.

Disney has been responsible in how they’ve reopened but Florida officials are ignoring the advice of CDC and other pandemic experts. They’ve also throttled testing, and access to public health data. Bottom line: Florida’s gross negligence makes me much less likely to visit Disney World, or any place in the state. Sorry, Mickey, it’s not your fault Florida gov is off the rails.

I am an annual passholder and have been so for years. I have yet to receive my Tinkerbell magnet. Who can I contact about this?

This is ridiculous. The only reason we planned to come to Disney next month is that we felt Disney had high standards and would keep customers safe. We felt comfortable with the current guidelines Disney was following but if that changes I think my trip will too. I hope Disney will use common sense and safety in their decision. We miss coming to WDW and will be very disappointed. We’ve already needed to reschedule our trip three times due to COVID.

This is not a good thing.

Vince, so far no news. Sorry!
Jim says
Hurray! Good for Florida can’t wait to get down there in a few months.

I agree w Donna, Wendy & Rebecca..this is too serious a disease to open fully before there is vaccine…I hope WDW is circumspect & cautious..
