Most Star Wars fans internally groan when they hear the words “Holiday Special,” thanks to the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special, that was — to put it mildly — not received well by fans OR critics.
Although that special has attained a sort of cult status as the worst Star Wars thing ever made. However, there is legitimate excitement about the upcoming Disney+ LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special.
Perhaps that’s because fans expect a lot of tongue-in-cheek humor from LEGO movies, and the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special is actually going to acknowledge something from the previous special: Life Day, a holiday from the Wookiee planet of Kashyyyk.
But fans can also expect some top-notch talent behind the scenes, including actors reprising their Star Wars roles in the new special. This includes Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian, and Anthony Daniels as C-3PO. They will be joining Star Wars: The Clone Wars voice actors Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker), Tom Kane (Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn), James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi), and Dee Bradley Baker (Clone Troopers).
Disney+ also released a new poster for the special, giving us an idea of the kind of humor we can expect from the special.
At this point, we are ALL IN. And we never thought we’d ever say we were looking forward to another Star Wars holiday special! The special will start streaming on Disney+ on November 17th. So with that, plus season 2 of The Mandalorian premiering this month, we will officially be in Star Wars heaven this holiday season!
