Disney hasn’t had the best time with premieres lately.
Poor box office results led to Disney ceding its crown as Universal Studios became the top-grossing production company for 2023, and Disney+ has yet to become profitable (though CEO Bob Iger is still confident that it will be by the end of 2024.) Streaming is a top priority for Iger, so perhaps that’s why this showrunner was fired before his show even officially premiered.
Are you ready for some NEW movies and shows on Disney+?!

It seems the world can’t get enough of Taylor Swift — including Disney!
During the company’s first-quarter earnings call of 2024, it was revealed that the movie version of Taylor’s Eras Tour concert will be exclusively streaming on Disney+. But, with such exclusivity comes a hefty price tag — and you won’t believe just how much Disney paid for it!
Over the past year, we’ve seen a lot of changes happening with Disney+.
In an effort to make streaming more profitable, Disney has not only raised the price of the streaming subscription service, but it’s also started to integrate Hulu, one of Disney’s OTHER streaming services, into the app. Disney also recently began to crack down on account sharing, and now the Disney+ subscriber agreement reflects that update.
Disney CEO Bob Iger has shared that improving streaming at Disney was his number one priority, and we’ve seen significant changes since his return.
But, just how close is Iger to achieving his goal of making streaming profitable? We learned quite a bit during Disney’s most recent earnings call — including the not-so-great news that Disney+ had lost 1.3 million core subscribers over the last quarter. And yet, Iger doesn’t seem to be worried at all — here’s why.
