Something SPOOKTACULAR happens in Disneyland Resort each fall when HALLOWEEN TIME brings haunting delights to Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure! FRIGHTFUL amounts of FUN can be had throughout the Resort from September 2 – October 31, 2022!
Let’s check out all the frightfully festive FUN for Halloween Time!
Main Street Pumpkin Festival
As you stroll along Main Street, U.S.A., you can take in all the hand-carved pumpkins of the Main Street Pumpkin Festival!
The giant Mickey pumpkin welcomes you to the whimsical scene…
Disney Characters in Costume
Look for Disney pals in their very own Halloween costumes in the park!
As you can see with Donald’s amazing Candy Corn costume above, you can expect to see a NEW Halloween look for Mickey, Minnie and pals in Disneyland for 2022! Mickey and Minnie are ready for a night of trick-or-treating and mischief in their new “homemade” Halloween costumes.
In fact, the whole crew decided to make their own costumes, and Disney has shared that guests will also be able to see Goofy as a haunted apple tree throughout the season, too! Daisy, Pluto, Clarabelle, and Chip and Dale all got new costumes this year.
Throughout the season, you can enjoy Halloween Screams, a supernatural projection and special effects show on Sleeping Beauty Castle each night.
The WEEKENDS feature the addition of FIREWORKS to the family-friendly show!
Haunted Mansion Holiday
The return of Haunted Mansion Holiday presents some not-so-subtle nods to The Nightmare Before Christmas thanks to some extra decorations placed by the Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington!
Step inside… IF YOU DARE!
Every year, the Haunted Mansion Holiday in Disneyland is complete with a new gingerbread house in the ballroom. This year? The stars are Lock, Shock, and Barrel from The Nightmare Before Christmas standing on top of a giant gingerbread house!
P.S. There’s even a moving GUILLOTINE in the front of the gingerbread house!
Remember, Haunted Mansion Holiday stays throughout the Holiday Season, too, so you can catch this tradition through the end of the holiday season in Disneyland!
You never know, you just may be treated to some Halloween tunes performed by none other than the Dapper Dans!
That’s Main Street’s own Barbershop Quartet!
Dia De Los Muertos
Visit Frontierland to celebrate Día de los Muertos from September 2nd through November 2nd!
As Disney shares, “the holiday is a time to remember loved ones that have passed, while we embrace our eternal connections.” Take in art, cuisine, and special cultural displays at El Zócalo Park for the Day of the Dead.
Visit Rancho del Zócalo Restaurante to dine on Mexican cuisine, while you’re in Frontierland.
Disney California Adventure
Oogie Boogie Bash
Oogie Boogie Bash is an extra-ticket event held on select nights from September 6th through October 31st at Disney California Adventure! The one and only Oogie Boogie — along with some of his fellow Disney Villains — is your host!
And don’t forget the magic words — “Trick or Treat!” — for all the CANDY along the Treat Trails!!
And that’s just a glimpse… You can find everything included at the Oogie Boogie Bash HERE!
Decorations and Overlays
Be on the lookout — if you dare! — for spooky decor around the park.
Similar to Disneyland, Mickey Mouse and friends are out and about in Halloween costumes and seasonal decor is in place as well — like a stunning 10-foot-tall statue of the Headless Horseman.
Attractions and lands and even a few restaurants feature spooky makeovers, too. For instance, Carthay Circle is decked out for the All Hallows’ Eve Celebration, complete with bats flying through the upper windows to set the haunting scene during the day…
… and SPOOOOOOOOKY projections after the sun goes down!
And in Cars Land, Radiator Springs turns into Radiator Screams!
THIS is where the cars get in on the “Haul-O-Ween” fun… complete with their very own “car-stumes!”
Look for the transformations of Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree into Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, and Luigi’s Rolickin’ Roadsters into Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween!
The fun frights even extend to Avengers Campus, where the Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark seasonal overlay comes to Mission: BREAKOUT!
The Plaza de la Familia has returned to Disney California Adventureand is available to visit from September 2nd through November 2nd for a celebration inspired by Dia de los Muertos.
Live music and entertainment (including “A Musical Celebration of Coco”), interactive activities, special decorations and more all come together “to celebrate the everlasting bonds of family and the spirit of the Mexican tradition of Día de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead.”
Downtown Disney District
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit
Downtown Disney is in on the hauntingly fun time with Halloween decorations, TONS of seasonal treats, and a pumpkin hunt — Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit! This family-friendly hunt is taking place from September 9th through October 31st (or while supplies last).
To participate in Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit, you can purchase a game board and sticker set for $9.99 at select locations including World of Disney, Disney’s Pin Traders, Disney Home, The Disney Dress Shop, and WonderGround Gallery.
Next, it’s time to search around Downtown Disney for hidden decorative pumpkins “dressed up” like your favorite Disney characters! (SPOILER ALERT: We completed the Pursuit in 2021, and you can see some of the Hidden Pumpkins HERE!)
When you spot the pumpkins, place the corresponding sticker on your game board. You’ll then return your game board to World of Disney or Disney Pin Traders for a “spooky surprise.”
Click HERE to read all about Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit! AND you can CLICK HERE to see our time playing Pumpkin Pursuit (Spoiler Alert: We show where several of the pumpkins are located in the second link)!
Keep your ears peeled for live music (err… undead music?) by the SCAREolers!
They’ll be performing in Downtown Disney on Friday through Sunday evenings from September 30th through October 31st!
The Hotels of Disneyland Resort
Well, well, well… look who showed up at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel in 2021, too? Why, it’s OOGIE BOOGIE once again! Only this time… he’s EDIBLE!
This HUGE display was made with krispie treats, modeling chocolate, and fondant! Resort displays like this are have returned 2022!
Oh, and at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, Ursula took over a bit of the lobby in 2021!
Additionally, overnight guest staying at the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort are invited to enjoy complimentary trick-or-treating from October 28-31, 2022. Sign up at your hotel’s front desk and to get a treat map of the locations at all three hotels.

There is ABSOLUTELY OODLES of Halloween merchandise available for 2022!
