Something SPOOKTACULAR happens in Disneyland Resort each fall (typically from early September through October 31st) when HALLOWEEN TIME brings haunting delights to Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure! FRIGHTFUL amounts of FUN can be had throughout the Resort.
The spooky season delivers special events, spooky decorations, “scary” snacking, and MORE to Disneyland Resort!
Let’s check out all the frightfully festive FUN for Halloween Time!
Disneyland Park
Main Street Pumpkin Festival
As you stroll along Main Street, U.S.A., you can take in all the hand-carved pumpkins of the Main Street Pumpkin Festival!
The giant Mickey pumpkin welcomes you to the whimsical scene…
Disney Characters in Costume
Look for Disney pals in their very own Halloween costumes in the park!
In fact, Mickey, Minnie and pals debuted a NEW Halloween look for Mickey, Minnie and pals in Disneyland in 2023!
Halloween Screams
Throughout the season, you can enjoy Halloween Screams, a supernatural projection and special effects show on Sleeping Beauty Castle each night.
The WEEKENDS feature the addition of FIREWORKS to the family-friendly show!
Haunted Mansion Holiday
The return of Haunted Mansion Holiday presents some not-so-subtle nods to The Nightmare Before Christmas thanks to some extra decorations placed by the Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington!
Step inside… IF YOU DARE!
Every year, the Haunted Mansion Holiday in Disneyland is complete with a new gingerbread house in the ballroom. In 2023, Von Ginger could be seen offering up some fruitcake from inside the mausoleum.
The themed gingerbread house has been a tradition of Haunted Mansion Holiday for 22 years. The 2023 house is eleven feet tall and six feet wide. It took 50 pounds of gingerbread and 150 pounds of royal icing to bring it to life.
Remember, Haunted Mansion Holiday stays throughout the Holiday Season, too, so you can catch this tradition through the end of the holiday season in Disneyland!

Entertainment
You never know, you just may be treated to some Halloween tunes performed by none other than the Dapper Dans!
That’s Main Street’s own Barbershop Quartet!
Dia De Los Muertos
Visit Frontierland to celebrate Día de los Muertos!
As Disney shares, “the holiday is a time to remember loved ones that have passed, while we embrace our eternal connections.” Take in art, cuisine, and special cultural displays at El Zócalo Park for the Day of the Dead.
Visit Rancho del Zócalo Restaurante to dine on Mexican cuisine, while you’re in Frontierland.
Happy Haunts Guided Tour
In 2023, the Happiest Haunts Guided Tour of Disneyland offered a two-hour tour complete with fall decorations, spooky stories, and a one-of-a-kind Pirates of the Caribbean experience. Participants also had the opportunity to have their photo taken with some special backgrounds — including one with the Hitchhiking Ghosts. Guests could also score reserved seating for Halloween Screams on the day of their tour.
Reservations for the tour could be made on Disneyland’s website up to 60 days in advance. Same-day bookings up to 20 minutes prior to the tour could be made if availability allowed. Tour prices started at $110.00. Stay tuned for 2024 information!
Disney California Adventure
Oogie Boogie Bash
Oogie Boogie Bash is an extra-ticket event held on select nights during Halloween Time at Disney California Adventure! On select nights (in 2023, the event ran from September 5 – October 31, 2023), the one and only Oogie Boogie — along with some of his fellow Disney Villains — once again hosts the Oogie Boogie Bash!
Guests are invited to wear costumes and experience Bash-exclusive entertainment including rarely seen characters and Treat Trails along with access to the park’s attractions and MUCH more.
And don’t forget the magic words — “Trick or Treat!” — for all the CANDY along the Treat Trails!!
And that’s just a glimpse… You can find everything included at the Oogie Boogie Bash HERE!

Decorations and Overlays
Be on the lookout — if you dare! — for spooky decor around the park.
Similar to Disneyland, Mickey Mouse and friends are out and about in Halloween costumes and seasonal decor is in place as well — like a stunning 10-foot-tall statue of the Headless Horseman.
Attractions and lands and even a few restaurants feature spooky makeovers, too. For instance, Carthay Circle is decked out for the All Hallows’ Eve Celebration, complete with bats flying through the upper windows to set the haunting scene during the day…
… and SPOOOOOOOOKY projections after the sun goes down!
And in Cars Land, Radiator Springs turns into Radiator Screams!
THIS is where the cars get in on the “Haul-O-Ween” fun… complete with their very own “car-stumes!”
Look for the transformations of Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree into Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, and Luigi’s Rolickin’ Roadsters into Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween!
The fun frights even extend to Avengers Campus, where the Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark seasonal overlay comes to Mission: BREAKOUT!
The Plaza de la Familia brings a celebration inspired by Dia de los Muertos to Disney California Adventure.
Live music and entertainment (including “A Musical Celebration of Coco”), interactive activities, special decorations and more all come together “to celebrate the everlasting bonds of family and the spirit of the Mexican tradition of Día de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead.”

Downtown Disney District
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit
Downtown Disney is in on the hauntingly fun time with Halloween decorations, TONS of seasonal treats, and a pumpkin hunt — Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit! This family-friendly hunt took place from September 8th through November 1st in 2023.
To participate in Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit, you can purchase a game board and sticker set (in 2023, the price was $9.99) at select locations including World of Disney, Disney’s Pin Traders, Disney Home, The Disney Dress Shop, and WonderGround Gallery.
Next, it’s time to search around Downtown Disney for 13 hidden decorative pumpkins “dressed up” like your favorite Disney characters!
When you spot the pumpkins, place the corresponding sticker on your game board. You’ll then return your game board to World of Disney or Disney Pin Traders for a “spooky surprise.”
The 2023 prize was your choice of several character pumpkin sippers that could be yours when you completed your search!

The Hotels of Disneyland Resort
Well, well, well… look who showed up at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel in 2022? Why, it’s OOGIE BOOGIE! Only this time… he’s EDIBLE!
This HUGE display was made with krispie treats, modeling chocolate, and fondant!
Meet the Pastry Chef Behind Disneyland Resort’s Oogie Boogie Halloween Time Display!
In 2023, guests visiting the Grand Californian were treated to the sight of this gorgeous Coco display!
Oh, and at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, Ursula took over a bit of the lobby in 2021!
AND from September 21st until October 31st, Goofy’s Kitchen at Disneyland Hotel celebrated Halloween. During this time, guests could dine with Goofy and some of his friends in their creative Halloween costumes. You can expect to “enjoy special food items prepared just for the Halloween season—with enhanced menu offerings for brunch and dinner; themed décor and music; Disney PhotoPass digital downloads; and a Halloween-themed button.”
Two different meals offered the Halloween-themed food — Brunch and Dinner. In 2023, Brunch was $62 for adults and $34 for kids and ran from 10:30AM – 1:30PM. Dinner was $75 for adults and $37 for kids and ran from 4PM until 9PM.
Additionally, overnight guest staying at the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort are invited to enjoy complimentary trick-or-treating — the 2022 trick-or-treating dates were October 28-31, 2022. Sign up at your hotel’s front desk and to get a treat map of the locations at all three hotels.
