The Marvel-inspired Avengers Campus coming to Disney California Adventure in Disneyland Resort is a brand new land that will ultimately deliver two new rides, themed dining locations and food carts, character interactions, retail locations, and more when it opens in 2021!
That’s right! The Avengers are setting up a campus “to recruit the next generation of Super Heroes.” (And that means YOU!)
Avengers Campus will open in Two Phases.
Avengers Campus will deliver the debut of WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure in the land’s opening phase!
WEB SLINGERS — which will be the first ride-through Disney attraction to feature Spider-Man — will be housed in the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB, of course!) where Tony Stark has gathered innovators such as Peter Parker himself to invent new technologies which will equip everyday people to become Super Heroes!
During the attraction, guests will be invited by inspiring inventors like Peter Parker to go for a test drive of the “Web-Slinger” vehicle. However, riders must put their superhero skills to the test as they sling virtual webs to catch the Spider-Bots that have started to cause panic…
WEB SLINGERS will join the already open Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction in Disney California Adventure.
Phase Two of the opening of the Avengers Campus will include a brand new E-ticket attraction with an innovative ride system that puts YOU in the middle of the Avengers action!
Here you will “step onboard a Quinjet and fly alongside the Avengers in an epic adventure to Wakanda and beyond! You will team up alongside the Avengers in a battle to save our world against one of the most powerful villains they have ever faced.”
Three new dining locations will help you fuel your inner Super Hero on Avengers Campus!
Pym Test Kitchen will serve up eats that have been “enlarged or shrunk with Pym Particles,” with cooks under the instruction of Ant-Man and The Wasp! Look forward to “massive meals, tiny treats and shareable bites” on the menu at this quick service restaurant.
At the nearby Pym Tasting Lab, of-age guests may order from a selection of craft beers or enjoy “one of the Pym Research Staff’s Pym Particle-infused cocktail experiments.”
And, by invitation of The Avengers, the Shawarma Palace will open a “second location” on the Campus (with the first, of course, being their favorite shawarma joint back in NYC). The cart (decorated with Avengers memorabilia) will serve shawarma-inspired snacks.
Guests visiting Avengers Campus can anticipate the possibility of “heroic encounters” with characters such as Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, the Dora Milaje, and Thor. (You’ll want to be on the lookout for villains like Loki, too!)
Ant-Man and The Wasp will be making their first appearances on Avengers Campus, and Iron Man will don his new Mark 80 armor. Even Spider-Man will swing “into action high above Avengers Campus with gravity-defying, acrobatic feats.”
Doctor Strange will give lessons in the mystic arts in an ancient sanctum, which will glow with color and light in the evening. And the Taskmaster (from the upcoming “Black Widow” movie), whose abilities include “photographic reflexes” which “reflect Super Hero moves” will be seen for the first time.
According to Marvel, there will be two new merchandise locations in Avengers Campus — WEB Suppliers and Campus Supply Pod.
WEB Suppliers will sell Spider-Bots, action figures, and more.
The Spider-Bots will be similar to those you’ll see in the new WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure attraction. These bots can be customized (much like droids at Droid Depot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge). You will also be able to snag tactical upgrades that will change your bots’ appearance and battle capabilities. These will include Black Panther, Iron Man, Black Widow, Ant-Man, and The Wasp.
And stop by the Campus Supply Pod to gear up in Avengers Campus goods like hoodies, shirts, hats, drinkware, and more featuring the Campus logo.
Avengers Campus was originally scheduled to open on July 18, 2020. However, due to the unprecedented closure of the park, the opening of the land has been delayed, and a new opening date has not yet been announced. However, Disney has confirmed that Avengers Campus will open in 2021.
And, in the meantime, of course, progress is being made on the land! In August 2020, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, Josh D’Amaro took a tour of Avengers Campus and shared some pictures of the progress — including a photo with the Quinjet, which has now landed!
You can read more about this milestone here.
We will keep this page updated with all the latest information — including the new opening date for Avengers Campus — as it is revealed, so keep checking back!
Global Avengers Initiative
The presence of the Avengers expands to Disney parks beyond Disney California Adventure with the global Avengers Initiative, with new experiences and “interconnected stories” in Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland!
Disney has shared that “the Avengers are setting up new Headquarters and technology sharing exchanges around the globe to empower and inspire all potential recruits willing to step up and become heroes.”
Avengers Experiences – Hong Kong Disneyland
In Hong Kong Disneyland, guests can already take part in two attractions: the Iron Man Experience and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle.
Avengers Campus — Disneyland Paris
Walt Disney Studios Park in Disneyland Paris will open an Avengers Campus as well (originally slated for a 2021). A multi-year expansion for the park will also include themed areas for Star Wars and Frozen.
Prior to Avengers Campus, a new hotel experience is opening in Paris with Disney’s Hotel New York — The Art of Marvel in Paris.
“The hotel will celebrate 80 years of Marvel art and artists, with more than 300 curated works of art on display. Rooms will include one-of-a-kind themed suites featuring favorite Super Heroes like Spider-Man, and you can even meet these legends in a dedicated space.”
In November 2020, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Josh D’Amaro shared that that the hotel is built with the idea of “celebrating 80 years of Marvel storytelling in a typical New York setting with a contemporary art deco style, which will include one of the largest publicly viewable collections or marvel artwork in the world.” His presentation included a glimpse at the lobby area in progress, which looks just like the original concept art.
