“To all who come to this happy place: WELCOME. Disneyland is your land.”
Those are the words Walt Disney spoke to invite guests into Disneyland park when it opened on July 17, 1955.
Disneyland reopened following an unprecedented closure on April 30, 2021, and we have once again been enjoying our time in The Happiest Place on Earth ever since!
“To all who come to this happy place: WELCOME.” — Walt Disney
Home to the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle and nine whimsically themed lands, Disneyland is truly unique with its wonderful distinction of being Walt Disney’s original park.
In fact, Walt Disney once made his home in Disneyland in an apartment above the Disneyland Fire Department, and you’ll see a light in the window that stays lit in his honor.
Beyond the Fire Department, Main Street, U.S.A. sets the turn-of-the-century scene inspired by Walt Disney’s childhood home of Marceline, Missouri.
From here, guests head towards the Hub where the Partners statue — a tribute to Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse — stands in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Where to next? Well, that’s up to YOU, as guests can venture off to Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Frontierland, New Orleans Square, and Adventureland from the Hub!
Beyond the lands connected to the Hub, guests may also visit New Orleans Square, Mickey’s Toontown, Critter Country, and the park’s newest land, Star Wars: Galaxys’ Edge.
As the original Disney park, Disneyland is home to many classic attractions that are truly quintessential to the Disneyland experience, from “it’s a small world” and Peter Pan’s Flight to the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean.
It’s also home to the roller coaster MOUNTAINS: Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, as well as the Matterhorn Bobsleds! And along with Galaxy’s Edge came the arrival of the park’s most in-demand attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance! But there’s LOTS more in store…

The Magic Happens Parade made its debut in February 2020, led by the truly magical Sorcerer Mickey Mouse!
The Mickey Float is followed by Floats featuring characters from films including Frozen 2, Moana, and Coco.
A score of famous Disney Magic Makers and more Disney characters make up the multi-float finale!
Though the parade typically takes place at 3:30PM and 6PM, you’ll want to check the Disneyland App or the Times Guide in the park map for showtimes, as they are subject to change (especially during busier times of year).
Fantasmic! (Currently Unavailable)
Fantasmic! is a truly unforgettable production presented at Frontierland’s Rivers of America. Combining water effects, fireworks, and appearances by literally dozens of Disney characters — all set to Disney songs in an original story starring none other than Mickey Mouse — it’s a show you won’t want to miss!
You’ll want to check the Disneyland App or the Times Guide in the park map for showtimes during your trip so you don’t miss it! Specialty Dining Packages are also available for reserved viewing options for this popular spectacular.
Mickey’s Mix Magic
Cap off a magical day in Disneyland with a viewing of Mickey’s Mix Magic!
DJ Mickey spins some Disney tunes accompanied by kaleidoscopic projections on Sleeping Beauty Castle, and lights and lasers transforming Main Street, U.S.A.! Fireworks are added on select nights.
Spectaculars sometimes change with the seasons, so check the Disneyland App for productions like Halloween Screams in the fall, and specialty shows for New Year’s Eve and the 4th of July.

AAAARRR ye ready to hear The Bootstrappers in New Orleans Square? Then channel your inner Pirate and join them for a swashbuckling tune or two! While you’re enjoying a “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” kind of day, the Pearly Band can provide a soundtrack for you when they perform in Fantasyland.
If you find yourself dining at The Golden Horseshoe (where Walt and Lillian Disney celebrated their 30th Anniversary), you might catch the Golden Horseshoe Piano Player.
Though its currently unavailable, we look forward to the return of The Royal Swing Big Band Ball providing some big band tunes on Saturday nights in Fantasy Faire. And when Storytelling at Royal Theatre returns, young princesses and princes (and older ones, at that!) can enjoy live retellings of beloved stories from films like like Tangled and Beauty and the Beast.
Additionally, the daily Flag Retreat Ceremony takes place in Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A.
Members of the Disneyland security team are joined by the Dapper Dans (and sometimes the Disneyland Band) to present this patriotic tradition.
Performance times and presentations vary, and select groups do not perform every day. The Disneyland app or the Times Guide included with the park map can provide you with the info you need!

Helpful Info for Your Trip to Disneyland
Guests at Disneyland Resort can utilize the free official Disneyland Mobile App to unlock all of the magic and fun in Disneyland park (not to mention Disney California Adventure, the Downtown Disney District, and the Disneyland Resort hotels, too)… right from their smartphones!
From the very start of your vacation planning to the final day of your trip, the Disneyland app offers several features to help you make the most of your Disneyland visit!
Magic Key Annual Pass Program
If you frequent Disneyland, you might want to consider becoming a Magic Key holder! The Magic Key program offers Key holders admission to the two Disneyland Resort theme parks: Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
Magic Key members will have varying levels of theme park access and benefits based on the type of membership “Key” they hold.
Disney Genie — Coming Fall 2021
You will tell Disney Genie what you want to ride and what types of things (like Disney films or characters) you like, and Disney Genie will create a personalized, flexible itinerary for you. With Genie, you’ll be able to see forecasted wait times, mobile order your food, chat with a virtual assistant, see walk-up waitlist availability, make restaurant reservations, adjust your plans, and more! Essentially, Genie is designed to help you plan your day on-the-go and maximize your time in the parks.
There will also be optional add-ons available for a fee. TWO different options will be available, and they will allow guests to bypass the standby lines for attractions and instead enter the Lightning Lane.
The Disney Genie+ base-price option — for $20 per person, per day — will allow guests to select the next available time to arrive at an attraction (similar to the previous FastPass time windows) and enter that attraction’s Lightning Lane at over 15 attractions across Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
And another paid option will be available for DIFFERENT — and more in-demand — attractions. Disney’s Individual Attraction Selection service (pay-per-ride) is how guests will pay a fee to utilize the Lightning Lane for an individual attraction.
P.S. These add-ons are, once again, optional. Standby lines will remain available in all attractions where they were so previously.
There is a LOT to learn about this upcoming service, so you can find ALL the info you need HERE.
