We’re PRETTY interested in what’s going on with the EPCOT Transformation.
From work on Spaceship Earth to updated ticket booths, things are really rolling inside and outside of the construction barriers. Now, it looks like work is picking up for some BIG changes — and you’ll never guess where!
Alright, alright, we won’t leave you in suspense for too long. The work is UNDERGROUND! Lots of folks know about the tunnels under Magic Kingdom, but did you know EPCOT has a tunnel too?
This new permit is for “Project G: Facility 205 Upgrades.” “Project G” generally stands for “Project Gamma” on Disney permits and has been used to describe the EPCOT Transformation. The address on the permit is coded to the behind-the-scenes tunnel!
It’s not clear what these upgrades entail, but they could be infrastructure updates to support the new Future World. After all, the contractor on the permit is the company doing a lot of large-scale work for the transformation and the expiration date is the same as much of the transformation work, the end of 2021.
We probably won’t be able to see these updates in the park, but you can bet we’ll be keeping an eye out for other construction in EPCOT and more permits, so stay tuned!
