There’s a pretty big change when it comes to MagicBands for Annual Passholders!
As you’ve probably heard, complimentary MagicBands for Disney World Resort guests were discontinued and replaced with a $5 charge for the base, solid-color MagicBands. Now, we’re taking a look at what was in store for complimentary Annual Passholder options with this shift.
For 2021 and beyond, Annual Passholders still have a complimentary MagicBand option — but there’s only one choice! Passholders can receive the Grey MagicBand for free while others will cost at a varying level of prices.
We also noticed that in the Premium category, we didn’t see the other solid color MagicBands available. For instance, there is only one MagicBand available in the purple category and no solid color.
MagicBands will still be available for purchase in stores and online and APs and hotel guests still have access to MagicBands at a reduced price. We will be on the lookout to see if more free color options are added back in for Annual Passholders. But for now, grey is the only option. As always, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest updates!

Would you happen to know how long a magic band will work, does it have a battery? We already have several so we don’t need any, but if they die then we might have to get more. Thanks
Vicki, they do have a battery. I believe the stated expectancy is 1-2 years, but many readers and others say theirs have lasted much longer.
We just renewed our passes and had several fee solid color options.
