There is a lot of construction going on in EPCOT as part of that park’s massive transformation.

Spaceship Earth
There’s work being done for the new fireworks show, the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride, and more. Just yesterday, we noticed that EPCOT’s Future World was looking very different. But today we stopped by the park again and things had changed…AGAIN.
When we stopped by EPCOT yesterday, we saw that some of EPCOT’s waterways in Future World West, near the Seas Pavilion, were being drained.

Drained waterways
In our photo from yesterday, you can see the water level is lower and some of the rocks on the bottom had been exposed because of the water drainage.

Drained waterway
Today, we stopped by EPCOT again but things were totally different. The waterways in EPCOT’s Future World were actually being refilled, instead of drained.

Waterways Refilled
You can see the water level is higher and many of the rocks on the bottom have now been covered.

Waterways Being Refilled
We’re not sure what has caused this change. Yesterday, when we saw the water being drained we thought it could be for preparation for work on the upcoming Moana Journey of Water, or potentially just routine maintenance.

Waterways Refilled
When we spoke to some Cast Members yesterday, none of them had a clear answer on why the waterways there were being drained. Some said the water is routinely drained for pipe work. Another Cast Member told us that the water is often drained if there’s any sort of flowers or water features being added.

Waterways Refilled
All we know at the moment is that some water was being drained from these areas yesterday, but today it looks like those same waterways are being refilled. Of course, these waterways could be drained again at some point in the future. We’ll definitely keep an eye out for more updates and changes in this area.
