EPCOT’s International Flower and Garden Festival is just around the corner!
The festival begins on March 3rd and we’ve already seen lots of topiaries, gardens, and floral details added around the park! Lots of the topiaries used in the festival are impressive, elaborate, and adorable (we’re looking at you, pandas). Some, on the other hand, are a littttle bit creepy 🙃. We appreciate the effort, but Disney, you’ve gotta stop putting eyeballs on these plants.
Once upon a time, Disney’s Flower and Garden topiaries didn’t have faces. This photo of an adorable Tinker Bell from 2017 proves that you can still admire the character without it having a face.
Maybe some people thought these faceless figures were creepy, and we totally get that. But, sometimes they can be even creepier with faces!
In the world of Flower and Garden topiaries, there are tons of winners. Like this butterfly topiary that we noticed earlier this month. Beautiful, right? We think so too! It’s a totally magnificent and picture-worthy decoration.
Alas, not everything can be so perfect. Some of these other topiaries are picture-worthy too, but not for the right reasons. Now, don’t get us wrong. Sometimes plants can have eyes and not be totally creepy, as seen with these adorable Bambi creations.
Other times, it straight-up feels like they’re staring into our souls. We’ll show you what we mean. From afar, we see Woody and Bo Peep from Toy Story looking quite picturesque!
Alright, something’s going on with Bo Peep. She looks a little…suspicious?
Girl, you good? Maybe Woody did something to make her angry, and she’s not doing a great job of hiding it.
Alright, let’s move on to a classic Disney film — Peter Pan. Peter and Captain Hook look pretty normal here.
In this case, Captain Hook’s expression does a pretty decent job of portraying the rage he probably feels toward Peter. So, props to this one.
Peter looks a little too gleeful here, considering he’s staring down a pirate with a big ol’ hook and SWORD. Maybe this is one of those instances where he would do better without a face….
Tinker Bell, who was once faceless years ago, still looks pretty cute.
But upon closer inspection, something is…amiss. Maybe she realizes that Peter is acting a little too chill in response to Captain Hook’s brandished sword. But honestly, who’s to say?
Now, let’s check out another fun pairing. Rabbit and Winnie the Pooh!
Poor Rabbit here looks like he’s gotten some sort of googly-eye makeover. Maybe he’s stressed that we’re all in his garden. Just look at him, clutching his carrots for dear life!
Ultimately, these topiaries are impressive creations that bring some of our Disney favorites to life. But, we’re still not totally sold on these eyeballs. As we get closer and closer to EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival, check back with us for more updates!

Art is in the “eye” of the beholder. I love the eyes in the topiaries. It gives them more character.
Do a poll. I personally think eyes on them are by far better and more animated, relatable especially to kids. Would be interesting to see what majority of your followers think.
