If you ask us, there is one Disney park accessory that reigns supreme — Mickey or Minnie ears!
We’re constantly on the lookout for new ears in the parks and online and it’s pretty darn exciting when we find some. If you could only SEE our ears collections… . These might be an ICONIC accessory — but how comfortable are they really when you’re spending a WHOLE DAY wearing them in the parks?
Well, despite the fact that we spend pretty much every day in Disney World, we don’t always wear ears. SO, in the interest of you, dear reader, we decided to try wearing THREE different kinds of Minnie ears to see how comfy they are during a FULL Disney day.
Hopefully, this review is helpful when you’re staring down a new pair of ears on your next trip and trying to decide whether or not it’s worth wearing them all day. Spoiler alert! Some styles are DEFINITELY comfier than others.
Classic Minnie Ears
Alright, on day one we tried out the Updated Classic Minnie Ears. This pair features a soft headband with soft ears and a poofy red polka dot bow.
We were the most optimistic about this pair. After all, the headband is fairly flexible and made with soft (not head-scratching!) material. So, we donned our Classic Minnie Ears and started our day.
These were definitely the best pair to wear of the three we tried. We were able to wear them all day long in two different parks and we honestly forgot we were wearing them. Our reporter matched them with a red skirt and a black top and actually got a lot of compliments from guests who thought she was Disneybounding as Minnie Mouse — an added bonus!
If you’re concerned about comfort and looking to snag some ears, the soft headband, no sequin kind is definitely a safe bet. They’re a little tight at first but they didn’t give us a headache and they break-in very quickly!

Sequined Minnie Ears
On to day two! Next, we tried the Sequined Emerald Minnie Ears. This pair is similar to the classic ears from before but, you got it, they’re covered in SEQUINS. Will there be unforeseen snagging!? Let’s find out!
Like we said, we were a little nervous that the sequins would catch in our hair and be a nuisance all day. The headband is about as flexible as the classic one, so we didn’t expect too much head-squeezing. So, how did the sequined ears hold up?
We also made it a whole day in two different parks in these ears. To our surprise, the sequins didn’t pull our reporter’s hair as much as we were expecting! We didn’t take them off at all, so if you do, you might have to deal with a little more snagging. Still, we did forget that we were wearing them after an hour or two!
If you think you’ll pop those ears on and wear them the whole day, this option will probably be just as comfy as the classics! If sequins especially bother you or if you’re going to be doing a lot of removing and replacing your ears, keep in mind that snagging can be an issue.

Light-up Balloon Ears
And finally, on day three, we popped on some Light-up Balloon Ears to gauge their comfort level. These ears are much heavier and feature plastic Mickey balloons as the ears. The headband has plastic grips to help keep them in place.
We were definitely expecting these to be the least comfortable of the three. Like we said, balloon ears are HEAVY and those plastic grips can be painful depending on how they sit on their head. So, could we wear these for a whole day?
We DID make it the whole day with them on — but not for lack of discomfort. You can definitely feel how heavy these are and there wasn’t a point that we forgot we were wearing them. On top of that, they had to be adjusted about every 30 minutes. With how heavy they were, we felt like we had to keep pushing them down, which in turn made the plastic grippers dig in harder.
Basically, if you LOVE. the balloon style, they ARE wearable all day. You’ll just feel it. A good option might be to wear classic ears for most of the day and swap to the balloon ears in the evening when you can really see the glow.

Overall, the classic and sequined ears were TOTALLY wearable. We wouldn’t consider comfort an issue — even when spending a whole day in the theme parks. Those balloon ears can definitely feel a little wonky, but if you love them, you might be able to live with it. Stay tuned to DFB for more reviews from Disney World!

My issue with wearing them all day is the rides you have to take them off and what to do with them. Carrying a larger type bag to store them in is not practical because you need to store that as well during the rides you need to take them off. Slightly off topic but I find it frustrating that on ride bag storage doesn’t (with a few exceptions) accommodate the loungefly mini back packs. Certainly they don’t fit a bag large enough to store your ears.

I take my ears off for rides and then back on while walking through the park. I use a 2.5 gallon ziploc to place my red and white sequin ears in while in my backpack .

The loungefly ears are definitely the most comfortable!
