Happy May the 4th Star Wars fans.
We have eagerly been anticipating an announcement for Disney World’s new Star Wars Hotel — the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser — and now we have just that.
The hotel was set to open in 2021. But now, Disney has announced that the 2-night immersive hotel experience has been delayed until 2022.
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser website has been updated to reflect the new year as well.
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience is set to be something “all-immersive” and “beyond anything Disney has ever created before.” This morning, we learned a little bit more about what that ACTUALLY means as Disney teased the new, extending lightsaber we’ll see aboard.
Guests who visit Galactic Starcruiser when it opens in 2022 will be the first to see the new lightsaber in action, wielded by characters like Rey. Other new and familiar characters you may interact with include the starcruiser’s strong and charismatic captain, a plucky ship’s mechanic, and a galactic superstar who can captivate an entire room with the crook of one jewel-encrusted purple Twi’lek finger.
Disney also expanded on the experience we’ll have onboard! We know that Galactic Starcruiser will be more like a closed, two-night experience than a standard theme park hotel (kind of like a cruise ship!). Guests will start their trip in a special Launch Pod to take them to “space.”
But now, Disney has also announced the Crown of Corellia Dining Room (where that singing sensation from earlier will perform!). This supper club’s name is in reference to Corellia, the planet known galaxy-wide for its shipyards that gave us not only the Halcyon Starcruiser but also the Millennium Falcon. The hall will offer breakfast and lunch before transitioning for a multicourse dinner offering.
As a reminder, the Galactic Starcruiser will also feature more experiences like one where you can train with a lightsaber, one where you can learn more about the inner workings of the Starcruiser, and one where you can jump on a transport to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Disney says of the Star Wars Hotel, “This isn’t storytelling – it’s storyliving, where you’ll see, feel and live Star Wars in a whole new way.” Sounds pretty amazing!

Wanna bet… I have little faith in a 2022 opening, but what the hey, gotta take a shot I guess.
Doug says
The only opening news I’m interested in is the return to pre Covid-19. Normal hours, parades, fireworks, meet and greet. You know, the good old days.
Joanne Kurposka says
What about The French Quarter resort? One of Disney s best! Still not hearing about opening.
Mr . JOHN says
The star war hotel looks great all about star wars living in side
of the hotel . It will probably be 2022 I do not think the hotel is
not that big to be able to use during a pandemic . Expensive yes some thing like $2,000 for 2 days . Some day it will be used and people will have a great experience .
Ralph says
Still nothing on cost.
Misty says
umm…… but I am going to want to BUY it when I visit the Galactic Starcruiser. I mean, sure, it will be fun to watch Rey wield it, but let us be honest about that lightsaber. We grew up wanting to WEILD it, not watch someone else do so.
DFB Sarah says
Ralph, that’s right. We await that announcement from Disney.
DFB Sarah says
Joanne, that’s right; Disney hasn’t released any information about the reopening of French Quarter.
John Herman says
The light saber New $$$ it is probably over 200.00 the last one was 199.00 . Why is it different because it will be from the Star wars hotel . There is a market anything with star war s the fans will buy doesn’t matter the price Disney will make the money .
Arthur Schwartz says
The Star Wars hotel is certainly an interesting idea. I’m sure Disney will do it justice. I would think it’s certainly more for the “kiddos” than adults, but who knows? It’s yet to be seen how Disney and it’s Imagineers are going to pull it off.
