What better day for some SERIOUSLY exciting news from Disney World about the upcoming Star Wars Hotel experience, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. Not only did we learn that the hotel will have a delayed launch but we also learned a LOT of new details — including news about Disney’s REAL LIGHTSABER.
You might remember last month when Disney teased a real, extending lightsaber during a private press event. We shared all our thoughts because it was so mind-blowing to see. 🤯

Disney announced this morning that guests who experience Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be the first to see the new type of lightsaber created by Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development in action. But you can get your first glimpse right here!

According to Disney, guests visiting the Star Wars Hotel will be the first to see characters like Rey wield this new, more realistic lightsaber when the hotel opens in 2022. The lightsaber was designed by Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development, and is said to create “dramatic in-person moments previously only seen in films or shows.”

I wonder if that short video clip is real or the lightsaber is somehow animated. If it’s real, then they have a new goldmine for Star Wars collectors.
Looks link a flexible type of plastic bag/tube that would be filled with some type of luminescent gas…. interesting…
I mean, I would love to wield a real lightsaber, but this just looks like movie magic to me. It would probably feel more realistic if they had shot the video in a different location with a different “style”. I was all hyped up to see this, but I have to admit that I was pretty disappointed. Which I HATE, because I LOVE Star Wars. Maybe there will be more footage come out to help with the realistic effect.
Of course star wars light sabers special one s for the adventure sounds great to bad it is not happening this year .
