A Star Wars Hotel is coming to Disney World! Guests at the completely immersive Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will “board a starship alive with characters and stories that unfold all around them” when it opens in 2022!
The experience will be unlike any other Disney destination anywhere. In fact, Disney says of the Galactic Starcruiser, “This isn’t storytelling – it’s storyliving, where you’ll see, feel and live Star Wars in a whole new way.”
This all-new Resort experience will offer a two-night itinerary, meaning that guests will arrive and depart together (similar to a cruise).
So, how does one board a Starcruiser, exactly? Read on…
Boarding The Halcyon
Guests will become citizens of the galaxy immediately upon entry (and will be invited to dress the part). First stop? It’s check-in at the Galactic Starcruiser Terminal!
Guests will then enter a Launch Pod which will bring them straight into space where they will dock at the Starcruiser, The Halcyon.
Guests will even see the Halcyon through viewports as they approach!
Your journey will officially begin as you board the Halcyon which is “known for its impeccable service and exotic destinations.”
Once onboard, guests will stay in “well-appointed cabins, experience onboard dining, make a planet-side excursion to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu, and more.”
All passenger cabins will feature a view of space offering glimpses at other ships in the galaxy!
In November 2020, Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, shared another look at the guest rooms with two mockups!
And in early 2021, Jeff Vahle, the President of Walt Disney World Resort, posted a few photos of the guest rooms in progress, offering a true first look INSIDE the cabins!
Vahle also shared a photo of the window that is meant to look out into space.
Why would you ever want to leave the room? Well, there will be a few reasons… 😉
Experiences on the Halcyon
During your stay aboard the spaceship, there will be opportunities to train with a lightsaber, interact with your favorite characters (and encounter new ones), and operate the ship’s defense systems!
Passengers will gather — along with member’s of The Halcyon’s crew — in The Atrium. You may even spot a familiar face or two from a galaxy (that’s no longer!) far, far away…
A visit to The Bridge will give passengers the chance to navigate the Halcyon and operate its defense systems (with guidance from the crew, of course).
You may even be able to sneak into the Engineering Room — typically reserved for The Halcyon’s crew only — and see for yourself how the ship works!
Oh, and if you’ve ever dreamed of wielding a LIGHTSABER (and who hasn’t?!?), the Galactic Starcruiser will give its passengers the opportunity to train with one!
Speaking of Lightsabers… Disney announced that guests who experience Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be the first to see the new type of lightsaber created by Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development in action. But you can get your first glimpse in the video that Disney provided below!
Find out about the brand NEW Lightsaber that guests at Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will see FIRST!
Star Wars Characters
Yes, Rey will be aboard the Halcyon with you!
You may also encounter the Starcruiser’s “strong and charismatic captain, a plucky ship’s mechanic,” and more, including the Twi’lek entertainer at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room.
Let’s dig into DINING aboard the Halcyon!
Galactic Starcruiser Dining
Crown of Corellia Dining Room
Welcome to the Crown of Corellia Dining Room! Prepare to be entertained by a Twi’lek galactic superstar in this intriguing supper club named after Corellia — the planet that delivered not only the Halcyon to the galaxy, but also the Millennium Falcon!
Passengers aboard the Halcyon will enjoy breakfast and lunch in the Crown of Corellia Dining Room during the day. In the evenings, “a lavish multi-course” dinner will be served.
The Sublight Lounge
And guests of all ages can look forward to sipping on Star Wars beverages in The Sublight Lounge!
(I looks like you may be able to enjoy a pleasant game of Sabacc, while you’re at it!)
As mentioned above, guests will “make a planet-side excursion to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu.” Batuu is the planet guests set foot upon when they enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios (so dedicated time in the land is included in the stay)!
Note that the Galactic Starcruiser will be docked on the south side of Hollywood Studios, just east of World Drive, offering a seamless connection to the Galaxy’s Edge.
And, as of May 2021, the location made its official debut on the Disney World map!
You can see the orientation to Hollywood Studios below.
And, as you can see, the Galactic Starcruiser is officially “Launching” soon!
Opening Year and Reservations
Originally, the Starcruiser was announced for a 2021 opening. However, construction was paused on many projects around Walt Disney World due the Resort’s temporary closure in response to the global health situation, and Disney has since announced that the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will open in 2022!
Please note that no official pricing details have been released at this time. Previously, Disney announced that reservations for the Galactic Starcruiser would open in late 2020. However, that was prior to the Resort’s closure, and we will share updated information regarding when reservations will open as soon as it is announced!
A Sneak Peek
In celebration of Star Wars Day (that’s May the 4th!!), a model of the Halcyon — the Galactic Starcruiser made its debut in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney Presents: One Man’s Dream attraction in the park.
Disney did not state how long the model will be on display — only that it’s for a “limited time.”
If you happen to miss the display, you can take a complete photo tour here!
