Sometimes you encounter unexpected problems in Disney World that are completely out of your control.
Space Mountain Closed
Rain can pop up out of nowhere, rides can be closed with no explanation, or your favorite food item could be missing. Sometimes problems can pop up due to Disney transportation as well. It can be a bit unreliable or entire transportation systems can be closed unexpectedly. That’s exactly what is happening to guests trying to get to Magic Kingdom this morning — and it’s causing a big traffic jam!
The Monorail is currently down in Disney World.
Monorail Closed
We noticed the Monorail was closed as soon as we arrived at the Transportation and Ticket Center Monday morning. Both the Express and the Resort Monorail lines are down.
TTC Lines
Cast Members were blocking the entrances to the Monorails and announced that the only way to get to Magic Kingdom is on the ferry boat — the buses are not running.

With the Labor Day crowds, this caused quite a back up! It took us over 45 minutes just to get from the TTC to the entrance of Magic Kingdom.

When we got to Magic Kingdom, the entrances to the Monorails there were also blocked off.

A Cast Member said that he thinks the Monorails will be up and running within the next few hours.

It’s so strange to see all these real downs at Disney. I grew up going to Disneyland. It opened the year I was born. We’ve gone to Disney in CA or FA almost every year of our lives. I do not remember rides breaking down nearly so much in years past. Is Disney just not on the ball anymore?

Hopefully the monorail will be up soon. I love the monorail and prefer it to the ferry, but on my last trip the monorail seemed ‘less magical’ to me than I remembered it. Love the blog, youtube, and tiktok videos as always AJ and team!
That’s some crowd. I hope everyone kept their cool and got to their destination okay and eventually enjoyed their day.
I thought masks were required on transportation. Must be not when waiting in line with hundreds of others though??

Are the people in the park mainly from Florida just visiting for a day or two? How are bookings in the hotels? Is the value hotel MUSIC still closed?
Everything ages, not just us (even if still young at heart). Some things may take a bit more TLC then in the past. With all that happened over the past year, with labor and supply chain, it may be that they may be behind in some daily/preventative maintenance. They will error on the side of caution. All in all, I’m always impressed how well they keep things going and what it takes to keep it this way.
I took the backstage magic tour, in Jan 2020, just before everything shut down and it helps you appreciate all the cast members that work hard to keep the magic going. They always have contingency plans to help with the unexpected. Not always perfect solution for everyone, but they try. Yes, I feel things are expensive and and getting more so, even while losing benefits, but unfortunately that seems to be happening everywhere. I still hope to keep my next trip in November, and will have to evaluate the cost/benefits in the future, just like everyone. Some memories are worth it.

These occurrences are becoming more frequent. I recall how magical of an experience it was the be on the monorail back in the 70s and 80s. Now it borders on punishment and I’d rather walk. The monorail has far-exceeded the forecasted life expectancy. Yet Disney won’t spend the money to fix it properly and continues to perform duct-tape fixes. The Peoplemover is the same situation. Let’s hope for everyone’s sake that they get their act together for the 50th.
Might have been faster to walk to the Magic Kingdom via poly & Grand walkway. Or go as far as the Poly and take the little boat over.
Let’s blame COVID, everyone else does. Disney needs to keep a closer look at the maintenance force. Rides, transportation breaking down, faulty fire detector systems. What is going on?
Such a shame! Maybe Disney needs to spend more time and effort on keeping the park running smoothly and maintaining a quality experience for its guests , and less time figuring out how to extort every last penny out of its guests with complicated new money grabbing schemes.
Ronald, All Star Music is still closed. It was set to open but evidently was delayed as Disney moved guests to other Resorts. As for your other questions, I’m not sure what the makeup is like or how full Resorts are. It hasn’t been particularly busy this month thus far, which aligns with Disney World’s historic crowds.
