Severe weather can impact your Disney World trip, potentially shutting down attractions or forms of transportation like the Disney Skyliner.
Recently, we shared that severe weather could impact Disney World this week (particularly today, October 28th). Earlier today we also gave an update as to potential flight delays that could result from weather concerns. Now, we’ve got another update on what you should be prepared for in terms of weather if you’re in Disney World today.
According to the National Weather Service, a Tornado Watch is in effect until 5PM for Orange County, as well as other counties in Florida including Lake County, Seminole County, and Volusia County.
UPDATE: WESH 2 has since reported that the Tornado Watch has been canceled in Orange, Seminole, and Volusia Counties. Now a Tornado Watch is in effect for Brevard and Osceola Counties until 7PM.
A reminder that a Tornado Watch means that “conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms” in and near the area that has been placed under the Tornado Watch.
Part of Disney World is located in Orange County, Florida (the other part is located in Osceola County). As we noted above, the Tornado Watch is currently in effect until 5PM. Of course, weather conditions could change. Be sure to check back with the National Weather Service or another news source as to the latest weather updates.
UPDATE: According to The Orlando Sentinel, the National Weather Service has expanded the tornado watch to include Osceola County. Polk County is also under a tornado watch. As noted above, this tornado watch remains in effect until 7PM.
Important Update: A tornado warning is now in effect for Osceola County. News 6 is advising individuals to seek shelter immediately. This tornado warning is in effect until 5:30PM.

The National Weather Service said, “Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms…Although a tornado is not immediately likely, if one is spotted, act quickly and move to a place of safety inside a sturdy structure such as a small interior room.”
