Happy Holidays everyone! Disney World is decked out for the holidays with tons of decorations and plenty of delicious new treats.
Today, we’ve got a construction update for one of Disney World’s most famous holiday traditions: the life-sized Grand Floridian Resort Gingerbread House!Â
We stopped by the Grand Floridian and saw that the house’s exterior is basically finished! The elaborate display, which is made with real gingerbread attached to a sturdy skeleton, will also house a shop that sells holiday treats, as it has it past years.
This year, the house has some EARidescent touches to celebrate Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, including blue and gold tinsel and a 50th Anniversary sign!
Even Santa is in a nice EARidescent blue suit for the 50th Anniversary, complete with plenty of sparkle!
If you stop by the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House, you can find out all the ingredients that went into the giant house (including half a ton of honey), learn about the process of creating the house, and see the menu for the Gingerbread House’s shop, which will open on November 10th!
We’re always keeping up with the latest Disney news, including all of the holiday updates you’ll need, so stay tuned here for more!

What do you think about this year’s giant Gingerbread House at the Grand Floridian? Let us know in the comments!Â
Annette says
All the food ingredients (half a ton of honey) for what a pleasure to look at…there are so many people in the US that are literally starving and this is something that can’t even be eaten. What a great waste of valuable food products IMO..beautiful yes, wasteful yes
Tina says
Did I miss something? What’s controversial about it? “Disney World’s GIANT Gingerbread House Has a 👀Controversial NEW Look👀 This Year! “
Tricia F says
Wow! The amount of hours of detailed work. Love it!!
Ken says
What’s so controversial? The blue Santa outfit? Puh-leeze.
Gail Walraed says
We use to go around to see all the Christmas decorations at the different Disney hotels but now you can get past the front gate unless you are staying there or have a reservation for dining
Such a shame that we can’t do it anymore
Melanie says
If I am not staying at The Grand Floridian Resort, and if I don’t have a reservation at any of the restaurants there, would I be able to visit the resort to see the gingerbread house by going there on the monorail?
DFB Sarah says
Melanie, yes!
DFB Sarah says
Kate, I’m sure lots of folks feel similarly.
DFB Sarah says
Gail, you can visit Resorts using Disney transportation. It takes a bit more planning than driving between Resorts, but it may be worth it to you to be able to see these masterpieces.
Pamela says
Hi, I am staying outside the Disney Resorts. Which Disney transportation should Intake and from where to visit the Grand Floridian?
Thanks
DFB Sarah says
Pamela, if you’re at EPCOT or Magic Kingdom for a day, taking the Monorail to Grand Floridian is likely the most direct transportation. If you don’t plan on visiting the Parks, you could go to Disney Springs, and take a Grand Floridian bus from there. Let me know if I can help further.
