Well, it’s official: Disney Genie has arrived in Disneyland Resort! Although the launch of Genie at Disneyland wasn’t without its hiccups, the service is now available for guests to use.

Today we’ve got some interesting news for you about the new planning and ride reservation service. If you used Genie+ at Disneyland recently, you might qualify for “recovery.”
Recently, Disneyland guests who paid to use Genie+ on December 8th (the service’s launch date at Disneyland Resort) began to receive messages from Disney that they are working to provide guests “recovery” for the technical difficulties they experienced during the launch of Genie.

Around 10 AM on the day Genie+ launched in Disneyland, the service went down, preventing guests from being able to make Lightning Lane reservations or purchase a la carte Individual Attraction Selection ride reservations. The service continued to be unavailable for some time after that during its launch day.

On that day, perhaps as a consequence of the Genie+ technological issues, Disneyland Resort’s Disability Access Service was impacted. The service usually uses a digital system to keep track of ride reservations for guests who use DAS. Due to the technical difficulties, DAS had to revert back to using paper booklets.

Now, several days after its initial launch, Genie+ is available for guests to use. In terms of recent Genie+ news from Disneyland, we did see some significant price increases for a few of the Individual Attraction Selection reservations. This surge in pricing took place ahead of the weekend.

So, if you used Genie+ on its launch date, December 8th, be on the lookout for a potential email from Disney.
