When you think of a specific smell at EPCOT, do you think of caramel? Well, it’s hard NOT to think of the sweet treat when you pass by Karamell-Küche in the Germany Pavilion!
The truth is that the smell gets us INSIDE the shop time and time again so we can eat some of our favorite snacks like the Gingerbread Salted Caramel Buttercream Cookie Sandwich or that delicious caramel popcorn or the Werthers Pumpkin Cupcake with Salted Caramel Buttercream. And, today we’re back again to see if one of their boozy caramel offerings is still worth trying!
That’s right, we’re trying one of our old favorites — the Werthers Original Caramel Flight! It’s four delicious alcohol-infused homemade caramels. We last had this alllll the way back in 2019, so it was time that we gave it a try again. This little treat is served on a golden tray with four caramels infused with Pear Liquor, Bourbon, Amaretto, and Irish Cream.
First, all four caramels were creamy and delicious — the kind of caramel you put in your mouth and just CAN’T help muttering “Mmmmm….” after. Our favorite was the Bourbon (the plain one in the photo) by a long shot, but you definitely want to be a fan of bourbon to enjoy this one. The bourbon mixed with the caramel SO well.
We also really like the Amaretto (the chocolate-covered one). Chocolate + amaretto is ALWAYS a big win and the amaretto flavor really stands out in this one The Irish Creme (the piece with the white dot) was also really nice and tasted a lot like Bailey’s. The Pear Brandy one, though, was just fine (it’s the one with the bit of fruit on top). We didn’t really get any of the pear or brandy flavors, but there was a slight fruitiness to the taste.
All in all, the Werthers Original Caramel Flight is still a win for us, and at $6.79 for four pieces that’s not a bad deal for a tasty Disney snack! These babies are RICH though, so you might want to bring a friend along to share or save a few for later. So, if you find yourself following the smell into Karamell-Küche the next time you’re at EPCOT, pick these caramels up and try them out for yourself! And, we’re always eating something at Disney World, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more reviews!

This appears to be a new article (not dated, as usual for some reason, but posted earlier this month April ‘22), and it is a good one. I am happy to see an updated review of these caramels I love. One thing I experienced three times, though, you have not mentioned is the amaretto one covered in chocolate is fantastic but rock hard (while the others with it soft and perfect). I mean break-a-tooth hard. Three times! Only the first time two or three years ago, when they premiered, was that one soft enough to enjoy. It’s my favorite flavor with the chocolate and notes of cherry & almond. These are very expensive, so that one dud impossible to chew is a huge disappointment. I hope this new dfb review is telling me you did not have that problem. I bought these three times months apart each time believing they surely must’ve corrected that problem but struck out.
