Earlier this week, Disney announced that it would be celebrating Halfway to Halloween both in the parks and with events that guests can take part in at home. We’ve already heard some BIG announcements for this event, including the return of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Disney World!
We’ve also seen a look at some upcoming Halloween merchandise, checked out Halloween parties coming to other parks, and gushed over Mickey & Minnie’s new costumes for Disneyland’s spooky event. In addition to all the announcements, Disney is holding a virtual Hocus Pocus viewing party and has also released special digital wallpapers! And as if that weren’t enough, there are some limited-time treats available in Disney World to celebrate Halfway to Halloween. Let’s take a look at a few of these delicious options now.
Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs is already pretty spooky year-round, making it the perfect place to celebrate Halloween in April. For a limited time, you will be able to snag 3 Halloween treats at this spot!
Beginning April 28th and lasting until May 1st, you can get Pumpkin Spice Shadow Cakes, a Frankenstein Cake Slice, or the Valentina Cake. We’ve already tried out that Frankenstein Cake (it was here for Halloween last year!), and we know it’s a cookies ‘n’ cream–lover’s DREAM.
This cake is a 3-layer chocolate cake covered in cookies ‘n’ cream buttercream and loaded with M&Ms. You can only get it Thursday through Sunday in Disney Springs.

So today we’re heading into the Springs to try out the other 2 limited-time options.
The Pumpkin Spice Shadow Cake is a brand-new, limited-edition flavor. It’s a chocolate-dipped spice cake with a pumpkin buttercream filling between the 2 cake layers. You can get 2 mini-cakes per person, but you’ll want to hurry! Gideon’s is only selling 200 per day.
The flavors from pumpkin icing, spice cake, and chocolate ganache all work together really well in this treat. But be warned: It’s VERY sweet! The dense cake and thick layer of buttercream make it perfect for those with a massive sweet tooth but maybe a little too much if you’re looking for a more subtle dessert.
In our experience, we usually prefer Gideon’s cookies or cake slices to their shadow cakes. Still, we’re excited to find pumpkin-flavored treats in Disney World, even if it’s only for a short time! You can try the shadow cakes for $7 each.
And the other new offering is the Valentina Cake. This is a classic red velvet cake covered in light and fluffy cookies ‘n’ cream marshmallow buttercream. There’s a limit of 2 per person, and they’re only available this Thursday through Sunday.
Like the other cake, this treat is best for those with a sweet tooth! The frosting is delicious, with actual cookies mixed in. And there’s almost as much frosting as there is cake. Surprisingly, when you eat the buttercream with the cake, it’s not actually too sweet (but we still definitely couldn’t finish the whole thing in one sitting!).
The classic red velvet flavor blends well with the buttercream, although the dominant flavor is definitely the cookies ‘n’ cream frosting. You can grab a slice for $9.
In addition to the new cakes, every 4- and 6-cookie box will come with 1 of 16 exclusive trading cards specific to Halfway to Halloween, plus a bonus card for those waiting in line!
Hurry in to Gideon’s Bakehouse if you want to try these treats! They’re only around for a little while. As always, make sure to keep reading DFB for more Disney food reviews and news.
