There’s a lot changing in Disney World!
There are new attractions coming soon to the parks like EPCOT’s new Moana-themed attraction and Magic Kingdom’s upcoming TRON roller coaster! The parks aren’t the only place getting a bit of a makeover, the resorts are seeing some changes as well. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort have updates going on, and we just noticed some big changes over at the Polynesian Resort!
The Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show area is being demolished in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to make room for new Disney Vacation Club Villas. We saw that they had started working on the area, and when we were on the Monorail today, we spotted a huge change.
The Spirit of Aloha area has been completely cleared out except for one hut! Previously, we had seen a ton of construction equipment and debris from the demolition, but a ton of that has been removed.
It looks like they’ll be able to start construction on the new villas soon that things are clearing up. We’ll keep you updated on anything else we see about this construction!
There’s so much that’s changing at Disney World right now, and we’ll bring you all of the latest updates on all of it! We recently learned the new name and character design for Splash Mountain’s Princess and the Frog re-theme, and we found out a little bit more about what we can expect from the new TRON ride!

This just shows me that the corner offices are more concerned about the $$ and not guest experiences. Got to make sure they have that $20 million bonus available.
Too bad… The Poly does not need this. it was an oasis for guests. Now it will be a hotek.
This just makes me so sad. So much has changed at this resort and I personally don’t feel it’s for the better. I will miss the Spirit of Aloha show. It was nice having more things to do at night than go to the park or a fancy restaurant. And for a company doing all it can to discourage too many people in the parks, why do they keep building more places for them to stay?!
This makes me sad every time I see it. Seeing ‘Spirit of Aloha’ with my now deceased father is one of my fondest Disney memories. He loved.everything ‘Disney’. I hate to think what he’d say about this new Disney mentality of less but more $$$.
This was on the Bob Iger plate of distruction. Bob Cepak or whatever his name is could have saved it, improved it, promoted it and provided that everlasting guest experience that Disney was always know and loved for. Now it will be just another hotel room at a crowded hotel with less and less guest appeal. Another terrible decision from Disney Management. Where the hell is Michael Eisner who was a real guest advocate.
New management is an advocate for the greenback not the guest.
