When it comes to making your way around Disney World, you’ve got plenty of transportation options.
You can take monorails, boats, buses — even Minnie Vans! Disney’s newest method of transportation — the Skyliner — debuted in 2019 and has given a whole new meaning to the term “scenic route.” But, if you’re heading to Disney World in the future be warned — the Skyliner will be closing for refurbishment SOON and we’ve got all the details!
Disney’s Skyliner is a convenient way to get from one place to another in Disney World. There are currently stops at EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Pop Century and Art of Animation Resorts.
But, if you’re planning an upcoming Disney World vacation and want to use the Skyliner as your main method of transportation, you may need to make other plans. Disney’s Skyliner will be closed for refurbishment from January 22nd to 29th, 2023!
We saw a similar closure occur earlier this year around the same time, so it’s possible that this is just yearly routine maintenance. We spoke with a Cast Member via chat who confirmed the closure dates.
If you’re heading to the parks around this time, keep this in mind and plan for alternate transportation. Both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios are within walking distance of a few hotels, and so is Magic Kingdom! You also have the option of taking a Disney bus or a boat depending on your current location and destination. If you’re trying to get somewhere in a hurry, consider using a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft.

I’ve been quite perplexed how Disney cancelled the “Skyway” gondola rides at MK, DL and TDL, ostensibly due to poor efficiency (riders per hour) and high maintenance, and used that format to develop a major transportation system at WDW. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but was it money well spent?

I love the Skyliner, best thing Disney has done in years in my opinion. I get it, it’s not like a bus. Sometimes your going to have to shut them done like an attraction for some maintenance. If people can’t plan around that with 6 months notice then I don’t know what to say

Does this mean the Skyliner will open on January 29, or not until January 30?
