One of our reporters spotted something new in EPCOT today.
Disney has electric conveyance vehicles (ECVs) available as rentals in the park to help out guests who need mobility assistance, and these vehicles have recently gotten an upgrade!
Today we saw the new ECVs for the first time, all shiny and new! They are definitely nicer than the older ones we’ve seen Disney use for ages. These blue scooters have a head support and arm rests. The wheels are made to navigate Disney terrain, and you can steer with the handles in the front. There’s also a little basket to hold some of your belongings.
We know some guests have reported when they requested to rent one of these Disney was completely out of them at the time, so maybe these new vehicles mean higher amounts available and less of a chance of that happening!
The PROBLEM You Might Have When Renting an ECV in Disney World
Either way, we recommend renting an ECV as soon as you get to the theme parks if you’d like to use one so you avoid missing out.
If you do go to rent one of these ECVs and they are out (which happens almost daily in Magic Kingdom) you will be placed on a waitlist. There’s no telling how long it will take to receive one, so if you’re concerned about not having one available to use you can always rent from an outside company that fits Disney’s specifications! But, if you head to Disney and are able to snag a scooter, we hope you get to test out these new ones.
Here are some things to remember about ECVs in Disney World:
- Cost: at Disney World theme parks, they cost $50 a day to rent, with a refundable $20 deposit; at Disney World water parks and Disney Springs, they cost $50 a day with a refundable $100 deposit.
- ECV rentals are transferable between all locations — you’ll only have to pay for the one day.
- You cannot make “length of stay” rentals — you’ll have to rent them one day at a time.
- ECVs are available on a first come-first serve basis.
- You can bring and use your own ECV at Disney World.

what kind of cover would you use for the disney scooter. we are going next week and need one looks like its going to rain everyday

Hi Trish! I once had to use an ECV and when it rained, I ended up having to buy a poncho since you can’t really attach covers to the ECVs that you rent inside the parks so make sure you have a poncho or umbrella on you so you won’t have to buy one.
