Who knew that movies themed to Disney rides would be such a thing right now?
We won’t lie, we thoroughly enjoyed the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. We also laughed at every single pun in the Jungle Cruise movie. And we’re DYING (see what we did there?) to see the new Haunted Mansion movie. But what ride movie should Disney do next? Well, one major star has offered up a pretty amazing suggestion.
Someone asked Jamie Lee Curtis, who stars as the ICONIC Madame Leota in the upcoming Haunted Mansion movie, about which Disney ride she felt needed its own movie. And her answer surprised us and makes us wish for it REALLY bad. Why? Because Curtis said that the Carousel of Progress should get its own movie! What a great big beautiful tomorrow would that bring, right?

We also love that Curtis didn’t even have to think about her answer, AND she mentioned that her favorite ride is the Carousel of Progress. She’s already giving ideas for the film, saying the ride is “basically time travel.” Wait, a time travel Carousel of Progress movie? Um…Disney, get on it!
She’s right, though. Carousel of Progress, which premiered at the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair and is now located in Magic Kingdom in Disney World, depicts a journey through time that takes its visitors through the history of technology and innovation. And it does this with a rotating theater stage, with audio-animatronics acting out the scenes.
Also, maybe a movie could finally get us an answer to the age-long question: What’s up with the mystery girl on the ride? If you don’t know what we mean by the mystery girl, in the opening act of Carousel of Progress there’s a scene with a mom ironing next to a small girl with blonde pigtails who’s working on a spinning wheel. But this girl is NEVER SEEN in any other scenes that come after it. WE NEED ANSWERS, Disney, and a movie could finally solve the mystery.
So we’ll wait to see if Disney is paying attention. In the meantime, we’ll just keep our fingers crossed to see that “Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” on the big screen.

I have never been a fan of ride movies (not including the Pirates franchise, because it is its own thing). I usually just eyeroll myself into a migraine when they are announced. But a Carousel of Progress movie??? H*LLZ YES!!!! If only because Carousel of Progress is the only Disney World ride I would chain myself to if they ever try to get rid of it, maybe, but I’d still watch it!
