A VERY special and rare event is happening SOON in Magic Kingdom!

In fact, this event only happens once per year, and it only lasts for a few minutes each time. You’ve really got to be in just the right place at just the right time in order to experience it!
November 18th is Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse’s birthday! November 18th, 1928, is when the pair debuted in “Steamboat Willie,” so the date is considered their birthday. To celebrate, the Walt Disney Imagineering team planned something really cool.

When building the Under the Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid ride in Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland, Imagineering added in a hidden Mickey. But here’s the catch — this Mickey is only visible for about 15 minutes a year!

When the sun hits the rock formations just right, they line up perfectly to display a hidden Mickey in the ride queue. This only happens at about 12 noon on November 18th each year.
The rocks are engineered just right!
Last year, when we went to see this rare event, we spotted both a hidden Mickey AND a hidden Minnie!
What a cool moment!
A Cast Member led the crowd who’d gathered for the occasion in a round of “Happy Birthday” for Mickey and Minnie. We found that the best time to see the hidden Mickey and Minnie was at about 12:10PM.
