Disney World is all about celebrating special occasions, especially anniversaries.
It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago when we were celebrating Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. Then we celebrated the anniversary of The Walt Disney Company, which has been around for 100 years. We celebrated Animal Kingdom’s 25th birthday last year. But another BIG anniversary is happening TODAY (January 20th) in Disney World.
Gideon’s Bakehouse, one of Disney World’s most POPULAR snack spots that we talk about A LOT, is celebrating its third year in Disney Springs! So how BIG is this anniversary? Well, let’s just say that people are so excited that there was a MASSIVE line when we arrived at Gideon’s Bakehouse this morning. It extended WELL beyond the Gideon’s Building and past Morimoto Asia.
So, just how long was that line? Well, we waited in that line, and it took us over TWO HOURS from first getting in line (before the bakery even opened) to making our purchase. We later learned that the end of the line got up to a 4.5-hour wait. 😲 When we got in line, the virtual queue wasn’t available yet, but it did open up later that morning, although there was a line to join that, too.
Time to eat! We grabbed the Maple Walnut Chocolate Chip Cookie, which is the special Gideon’s cookie for January. It’s a Chocolate Chip Cookie mixed with Maple Syrup and housemade Candied Walnuts with Cinnamon Nutmeg Sugar sprinkled on top.
This was a JOURNEY. We started by smelling this cookie while standing in line outside the building. That sweet, mapley scent wafted out the doors and into our hearts pretty quickly. By the time we (finally) got to bite into it, we were drooling.
This cookie also has tons of walnuts, chocolate chips, and gooey maple syrup to hold it all together, and those flavors seriously work together PERFECTLY. What more can a cookie lover ask for in a cookie?

We also tried a slice of the Maple Caramel Chocolate Cake, made with three layers of Chocolate Cake, covered in Maple Cream Cheese Buttercream with ribbons of Housemade Caramel, and touches of Chocolate Chips and Walnut Chunks. Note that the cake slice is only available on Wednesdays and Saturdays through the month of January.
Okay, we’ll just say it: WOW. We could taste all three flavors in the cake’s name — the maple, the chocolate, and the caramel. The cream cheese frosting is thick between the layers, with loads of caramel drizzle between them.
The walnuts are sprinkled throughout just enough that they’re not annoying — they just offer a nice crunch. We will warn you that these slices are HUGE, so plan to share — or plan to take some of it home for later (this is why we always recommend bringing plastic containers in your Disney World bag).
We also got this Maple Caramel Chocolate Cake! If you HAD to choose between this and the cookie, which are you grabbing?? pic.twitter.com/WsPtWiSWn1

In honor of its third anniversary, Gideon’s has brought back the Peanut Butter Apple Galette made with Peanut Butter Sauce and baked with Fresh Cut Apples, wrapped in a Buttery Housemade Pastry, and topped with crunchy Peanut Butter Crumbs. This was only available for ONE day, and there was a limit of two per person. Gideon’s Bakehouse even warned fans that this treat would likely sell out quickly.
We’ll be honest — we were a little worried about this one, but Gideon’s didn’t let us down. The dough is stiff enough to hold the shape of the galette, but it still has an incredible chew.
The center is mostly peanut butter with some apple bits, plus there’s a layer of something similar to apple butter. These flavors are like a classic Southern dessert, and we are here. for. it.
Last but not least, this is the Peanut Butter Apple Galette! This treat was available for a limited time last year (and it was POPULAR), and now Gideon’s has brought it back this weekend for their 3rd anniversary of operation in Disney Springs! 🎉🍎🥜 pic.twitter.com/f3Ik3h2jD8

Also, everyone who purchases a treat from Gideon’s today gets a free button celebrating the shop’s third anniversary! It was a GOOD day at Gideon’s Bakehouse. (We even heard some lucky fans got to meet the man behind Gideon’s Bakehouse himself!)
Whew — that is a lot of sweets, but y’all, we have ZERO regrets. Stay tuned to DFB for more reviews.

Ha! Is it rare for the owner/creator to be there? We were there in Nov ‘22 and went for the first and only time and he was there. At the time, I guess we thought that was normal, but I’d love to know if we got a rare sighting! ☺️

Hey I was there Saturday! But I waited until 1 pm. It was still a four hour wait but I didn’t have to wait to get into the virtual queue.
I got the peanut butter cake and a chocolate chip cookie. They were both good but not so good that I understood the hype of a four hour line. But at least I got to try them!
