It’s no secret that we go to Disney World EVERY DAY! We’d like to think we’re pros when it comes to taking on new snacks, rides, and merchandise and we know Cast Members are at the heart of all of this!
We wouldn’t be able to do any of the things we do without Cast Members and it is truly because of them that Walt Disney World runs as incredibly magically as it does.
So read on because we’re breaking down the 5 things you can do to be every Disney World Cast Member’s favorite person and make their day!
Be Kind!
This sounds like an obvious one but have we seen otherwise. Cast Members are human just like the rest of us, so always be kind!
Even a smile can go a long way. We’ve seen Cast Members having bad days (we all have them) but a smile and a wave have turned their moods around!
What can you do to be kind? Smile, wave, offer up a “Hey, how are you?” or a “Thank you, have a good day!” you’ll be sure to make them smile!
Here’s what Cast Members recommend wearing to the parks!
Extend Understanding and Empathy
This goes hand-in-hand with being kind. Cast Members can’t always control things and situations that happen. If an attractions cast member’s ride is down, don’t be mean to them, instead try to understand that they’re not responsible for the ride being down and can’t always fix it themselves.
In these scenarios, it is important to extend empathy towards them. There will be guests who simply will not heed this ask, so be that guest who is empathetic.
With the spring showers and summer thunderstorms approaching, now more than ever it’s important to understand and empathize with those attractions Cast Members whose rides will inevitably go down for weather: They can’t control it.

Leave Cast Compliments
Has a Cast Member ever done something amazing for you? Perhaps a Magical Moment for your child? Maybe they were just kind and offered you a suggestion on what to do next! Whatever they did, be sure to recognize them for it!
Cast Compliments can now be entered through the Walt Disney mobile app, and the form makes it easy to recognize the Cast Member who did something special! All a guest has to do is take down the Cast Member’s name and location information and enter it through the form that is located at the bottom of the app’s navigation pane.
You’ll enter the Cast Member’s name, hometown found on their nametag, the date of the interaction, where it happened, and choose from a list of scenarios that match what happened to you the best! These are compliments that go on their records and are nice ways for a Cast Member to feel appreciated!

Be Punctual!
This is important for guests using Lightning Lanes, Virtual Queues, and any other sort of reservation! Being punctual to your reservation, no matter what it is, makes the lives of Cast Members so much easier.
Cast Members are able to accommodate you and your party more appropriately when you are punctual and it creates less of a hassle should something happen to your reservation, as the system has a window of time for your reservation.
By being punctual you are respecting the Cast Member’s time, efforts, and energy going into providing a pleasant experience for you as a guest. While things certainly happen and Cast Members are understanding, it is best to be as respectful of their time and yours as possible by being punctual.
Cast Members say they never do these things in the parks!
Be Pleasant and Present
You’re going to interact with a LOT of Cast Members throughout your trip at Walt Disney World, there’s no doubt about it. You’ll talk with them, ask them questions, ride their attraction, buy merchandise from their location, purchase food from their stands, etc.
The best way to be that favorite guest is to be pleasant and present. Now what does that mean? You’re going to be nice to Cast Members when you interact with them and be present when they interact with you!
That means less time absorbed in your phone and more intentional focus on the Cast Member. No one likes being ignored and by being present, you show the Cast Members that what they’re saying is important!
We love the work Cast Members do to make Walt Disney World a magical place every time we visit. Without them, your trip is simply not possible and the magic they create is important. So on your next visit focus on being kind, pleasant, present, and understanding.

Dottyanna says
I try to always be pleasant to cast members too! And I leave at least two cast member compliments on every Disney trip. But, I have to say, sometimes I really have to look for a cast member to compliment as I truly don’t think the level of hospitality is the same as it was ten years ago. But I understand some of them….especially the ride cast members…. Have a tough job.
