Change is brewing at EPCOT!
We’ve been seeing a lot of changes happening around Disney World in the past few years, and that won’t be changing anytime soon. In late 2023, Disney announced a TON of changes that will be coming to Disney Parks around the world. There has been a lot of talk about the reimagining of Dinoland, USA, as well as an expansion at Magic Kingdom to name a few of the changes we should be expecting to see within the coming years. However, there were some smaller changes and updates thrown into their plans, and we will be seeing the first one begin — SOON.
Disney officially released the concept art and the CLOSING DATE for Test Track at EPCOT!
It looks like we can’t get rid of the construction walls that easily. However, we are still SO excited to see what this reimagining will bring, and what changes it will make to the ride. Disney hasn’t released too many details about what the ride experience will be like just yet, but, they did mention that it will take inspiration from World of Motion, the ride that was originally there when the park opened in 1982!
Guests will have until June 17th, 2024 to hop on this ride and create their own SIM vehicles.
The concept art makes the show building look super sleek and adds a lot of purple to the color scheme we see now, which is primarily blue. The ride will still be sponsored by Chevrolet, as Disney mentioned they have a great, longstanding relationship with them.
We’re so excited to see what this new ride experience will be like, and we’ll be (im)patiently waiting for Disney to release more details — when they do, we’ll bring them right to you, so keep checking in with us at DFB to see what we find next!

Make it easier it get in and out of the car

I know I’m going to get bashed for this buuuuuut…..honestly, I wish we could get radiator springs like DCA. I wish they would turn it into the carsland one. It was so much fun and the detail on that ride was fantastic.
Mark says
Well, this will be another 10 year epic adventure.
Concept art is one thing. Seeing the process through to the end in a timely manner is another. Universal, will have time to open yet another whole world park before Disney can finish this one makeover!

We had our hopes up for a Sugar Rush track themed to Wreck it Ralph! It really needs something though.

It concerns me that they are taking inspiration from World of Motion, which I recall was lame and underwhelming in the 80s. Test track seems great as it is so it is hard to understand reimagining it when there are other Epcot rides that are significantly less popular in their current state.
Tracy says
Hopefully they’ll keep the outdoor portion of the ride the same. I’ll admit, it would be nice if the beginning part of the ride was a little smoother. Maybe the new version won’t be as jerky and hard on the body. And I’m glad I’ll be back at Epcot before they start working so I’ll be able to ride the current version one last time.

That’s terrible news! I’ve purchased Epcot After Hours tickets for July. Why would they shut down a major ride in the MIDDLE of the summer season?!?! This could have waited until the end of summer. I know it that a project this large will cover multiple travel seasons, but Disney should provide more than 2 months notice, especially knowing that people plan Disney vacations far in advance. There are so few rides at Epcot this will make wait times worse on the others.

Rode Test Track back in 2001 and loved the real-world look at a car testing/proving session. Went again in 2021 to see the black and neon version, was not impressed. Anything will be better than current.

Second that!

This is one of my favorite Disney rides on property, so I’m bummed it’ll be closed when we go in November. But I’m looking forward to what the update will be. I doubt we’ll ever see anything other than Chevy/auto themed as long as Chevy still sponsors it, which is fine by me tbh.
Helen says
I hope they make it better and do the change/ reno quickly instead of dragging on the changes like they do other rides. It’s disappointing when you finally get to got o Disney and some rides are being changed.
DD says
When will it reopen. Anyone know
Robin says
Probably an unpopular opinion but I am not looking forward to the remodel. I was on World of Motion and it wasn’t great. I like the outdoor experience so I hope they keep that.

Disney takes so long to get from concept to completion that I don’t get excited over anything new. If I had any input with Disney, I would beg them to keep it something that is family friendly, not another big ride with crazy drops and spins. A Radiator Springs type ride would be amazing.
