Flying into Orlando Airport for your Disney World vacation is a lot easier than driving for many people, but then that means you have to get yourself from the airport to the resort.
Some people choose to rent a car and drive to the parks, while others choose to take Mears Connect to their Disney World hotel, but that can get pretty expensive for larger families. If you’re looking for a cheaper option that will take you straight to Disney Springs, you may want to check out this new Lynx route!
The Route/Cost
This new route is called Link311 and serves Disney World via Disney Springs! The bus comes every 30 minutes each day from 5AM to 11PM and is a fantastic and easy way to get from the Orlando Airport to your vacation destination. The best part? It only costs $2 each way!
We decided to try out this route for ourselves to see what it’s like, and took you along with us! First, we headed to Disney Springs since that’s where the bus stops in Disney World. We then made our way to the Westside Bus Loop.
As a reminder, you can get to Disney Springs via the free Disney busses from any of the Disney World Resort hotels and vice versa.
We quickly found our bus stop, which was marked very clearly!
There was even a sign nearby that told us all about the new route and where it goes!
The bus didn’t take long to arrive, and it was also clearly marked.
Inside the Lynx Bus
We got a chance to hop on and take a ride around. It reminded us heavily of a Disney bus due to its design and makeup, which isn’t a bad comparison at all. It has plenty of seats and standing room and is also wheelchair accessible. If the bus is crowded, you’ll need to hold your suitcase on your lap as there are no under-the-bus stowage compartments, so keep that in mind!
Additionally, here are a few other notes you should know about this Lynx route:
- Free wifi is available
- There are NO plugs to charge your phone
- The AC was wonderful!
- No credit cards are allowed — you must have cash or be using the Lynx Paw Pass app for your tickets
- No eating or drinking allowed
- Hand sanitizer and face masks are available
The Luggage Problem
Now, the biggest ISSUE here is that when you arrive to Disney Springs with your luggage, you will not be able to take all that luggage onto the Disney World bus. Luggage is not allowed onboard the Disney World busses that will take you to your hotel, so you will need to snag a Lyft of an Uber if you have a lot of luggage. Or you can walk to your Disney Springs area hotel (if you’re staying at one nearby). Now, this could still be a great option if you are just coming for the weekend and have a small bag or backpack. But if you have loads of luggage, you will definitely be posed with a problem once you arrive at Disney Springs.
Getting a Lyft or Uber from Disney Springs will be cheaper than getting a ride service from the airport but it may not be an easier option for your family. There will be more stops, it could take more time, and you will not be able to simply hop on a Disney Springs bus to your hotel if you and your family have actually traveled with luggage.
Now, if you’re coming from a Disney hotel, you will need to go through security as you’ll be passing from the main bus loop to the Westside bus loop. This is also the case for anyone coming off the Lynx bus into Disney Springs to get to the other buses. If this is you, keep in mind your luggage WILL be inspected, and they will touch everything inside of it! If you don’t want to have your luggage inspected on your way to the bus terminal, you can take a Lyft (not an Uber) directly to the Disney Springs Westside bus loop, which will cost about $6-$10 during normal pricing periods.
But how fast does this bus travel? Don’t worry, we have the breakdown for you! It took us:
- 18 minutes and 25 seconds from Disney Springs to the Orange County Convention Center
- 33 minutes and 28 seconds from Disney Springs to the Florida Mall
- Driver did take a 5-minute break at the Florida Mall station
- 46 minutes from Disney Springs to Sand Lake Road
- 59 minutes and 16 seconds from Disney Springs to MCO Airport
This means that if you’re traveling to the airport from Disney Springs, you’ll want to plan on your ride being about an hour long, and vice versa. When you’re dropped off at MCO Airport, you’ll be at Terminal A, one floor down from the Southwest Airlines check-in desks. Terminals B and C are easy to get to. It took us about 19 minutes to walk to Terminal C from the drop-off location, including a ride on the airport monorail.
So overall, this can be a cheaper option for sure! We also think it’s great for solo travelers or those who just have smaller carry-on luggage like backpacks. But for the standard family coming to Disney World for a week, we don’t think this is going to be the simple solution it may seem to be right off the bat! It also isn’t going to be a solid option if you are in a hurry as it can be a pretty lengthy process.

Would this work for transportation from Disney springs to Universal?
Showing up at Disney Springs with your luggage doesn’t seem like a good plan especially with security. Holding your luggage in your lap for the entire bus ride with multiple stops…a hard no. I’d pay a bit extra to go from MCO to a specific hotel with my luggage.
This is not a great alternative. Who comes to WDW without luggage? WDW could bring back an enormous amount of goodwill by simply having the Magical Express Return. There is no cheap way to get from the airport to a WDW resort. Disney seems to care very little about its customers.
WDW is not what it was 5 to10 years ago. Regular customers surely notice the difference.
This post has much better information than the original post. Thank you.
I agree, if traveling with just a carry on type luggage, for a couple a day visit, this is definitely cheaper. But traveling with a family with luggage this probably is not the way to go. This seems like a good option though if you want to travel from disney to either Universal or the mall for the day.
