An ICON just returned to Disneyland Park.Â
The Country Bear Jamboree was a sensation when it opened with Magic Kingdom in 1971. In fact, it was added — with TWO theaters for double capacity — to Disneyland Resort the following year. Unfortunately, the show didn’t seem to be quite as popular in California, and the Disneyland show was closed in 2001 to be replaced by The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. However, a BIG part of the show recently returned to the Happiest Place on Earth.
A NEW statue of Big Al — arguably the most popular character in all versions of Disney’s Country Bear Jamboree attraction — has appeared at Disney California Adventure. Say WHAT?!
The Big Al statue is located near the new Disney Vacation Club stand in the Grizzly Peak Recreation Area of the park. The Country Bears and Big Al are no strangers to this area, as these characters have appeared here for meet-and-greets on and off over the years. But hey — now you’ve got a NEW spot to snap a photo with this fan-favorite character.
The statue’s placement is especially interesting to a subset of Disney fans who have long called for the Country Bears animatronics to return to Disneyland through a re-theme of the nearby Grizzly River Run attraction. While there’s ZERO evidence this is happening anytime soon, if ever, the new Big Al has gotten Disney fans talking. The internet has a LOT to say about this change.
Big Al’s return to the Disneyland Resort, even just in statue form, has gotten many fans excited about the Country Bears being back in Anaheim. Are you happy to see this new addition? Stay tuned to DFB for more Disneyland updates.
