Disney World has been very busy building something HUGE over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
The resort is getting a whole new building with new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villas. We’ve been following the construction of the project ever since it began, and Disney even recently revealed the new building will be called Island Tower and will officially open in December 2024 (which isn’t as far away as it might seem). Up to ow, only select groups of Disney World visitors have been able to book rooms in Island Tower, but today, EVERYONE can book one of these brand new rooms.
Island Tower will “complete the vision created by Disney Imagineers decades ago while embracing the rich culture from the Polynesian Islands.” The building’s exterior and interior will have designs created exclusively for it that will even include “a gorgeous Manta Ray that symbolizes freedom, protection and grace.” The lobby will have “an art panel installation on the ceiling inspired by several Polynesian Islands, showcasing wildlife native to each locale.”
You’ll be able to choose from a variety of room types including rooms that can sleep from two to nine guests. You’ll find duo studios, one- and two-bedroom villas, and even some brand new two-bedroom penthouse villas. Luxurious, right? If that sounds like something that’s right up your alley, you can book right now by visiting the Disney World website.
Many of those rooms will have views of Seven Seas Lagoon, meaning they’ll also probably have amazing views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. There will also be a new pool, and in concept art, we also saw some chairs along the waterfront for those who want to sit by the water and watch the fireworks. Disney has also promised some new dining spots, although we don’t yet have confirmation of what those dining spots will be, but we expect to see at least one new restaurant (and you know that gets us excited!).
Disney also promised “other recreational areas,” but we’re not sure yet what that means. But it sounds like Island Tower could be a sort of destination all in and itself and if you do book a room there, we’d suggest making sure you add a resort day to your trip so you can explore all what it — and the rest of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort — has to offer.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more details about Disney World’s newest hotel rooms, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
