Disney Cruise Line’s newest island destination just opened, and we had a chance to visit it a few weeks ago!

Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is Disney Cruise Line’s newest island destination! This destination is very different from Disney’s Private Island, Castaway Cay, but it holds a ton of secrets! 

Located on the beautiful island of Eleuthera, Lookout Cay features pink sand beaches and turquoise blue water. Lookout Cay focuses more on Bahamian culture rather than making this destination all about Disney. When we visited, we found out the secrets of this new island destination!

An Original Song Was Composed for Lookout Cay

When you make the walk on the pier from the ship to the Mabrika Tram Stop, you will hear the song “Ery’ting Cool.” This song was created specifically for Lookout Cay, and it will definitely get stuck in your head!

The song mentions that everything is cool and everything is fine, which is true since you are on vacation and getting to visit the breathtaking island of Eutheria! If you have a chance to visit Lookout Cay, make sure to listen closely to hear the song!

You Can Visit the Actual Lighthouse Point

Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point actually has a lighthouse! While it does not look exactly like the classic Lighthouse we are used to seeing today, it is still cool to visit!

You can visit the Lighthouse by walking on the nature trail to get up close to it or by walking down the family beach. Either way, it makes for a fun photo op to remember your trip to Lookout Cay!

The Tram Narrator is a Real Teacher from the Bahamas

Once you make the pier walk, you will make your way over to the Mabrika Cove tram stop. As a bonus secret, Mabrika means “welcome,” which is fitting since Mabrika Cove is the welcome area for Lookout Cay.

Once on the tram, a narrator comes on to tell you about what you can expect during your day at Lookout Cay. Miss Tracy, the narrator, is actually a real teacher from the Bahamas! Miss Tracy, along with Shelly and Lizzie, will also teach you some facts about the island!

Look for Shelly, Sandy, and their Friends on the Nature Trail

As mentioned before, you will get to hear Lizzie, a curly tail lizard, and Sandy, a crab, tell you all about the island! You can actually find little statues of the two of them with their friends once you arrive at Mabrika Cove.

Look for them along the nature trail as well! Who knows you may even see the real animal! On the tram ride over, they teach you that it is good luck if a Money Batmoth lands on you!

There is an Emphasis on Nature Preservation

Disney really wanted to preserve the natural beauty of the island. Only 16% of the island is actually developed! This helps keep the native landscapes intact. 

As for electricity, 90% of the Lookout Cay’s electricity needs are met by an “onsite solar array.” 

Unlike Castaway Cay, Disney did not dredge out a spot for the ship to dock right next to the island, instead the pier was built to avoid hurting the ocean wildlife and reefs. Around the island you will walk on elevated walkways, this was also done to limit the impact on the island’s landscape.

While Lookout Cay focuses more on the Bahamian Culture, rather than all Disney, we think these hidden secrets are pretty cool!
