It’s no secret that we are big fans of coffee — you probably figured that out as much as we talk about Starbucks (and all the latest Starbucks menu drops) and Joffrey’s (and often talking about the two sparks a debate!).
We don’t just drink coffee in Disney World, though — we drink coffee at home, too (usually in Mickey mugs because OF COURSE). Well, we just learned about a coffee recall that could affect the coffee sitting on our shelves and on your shelves, too. According to NBC, the FDA just recalled thousands of pounds of coffee for being mislabeled.
The coffee being recalled are the 12-ounce bags of Our Family Traverse City Cherry Decaf Light Roast Ground Coffee. This coffee was mislabeled as decaffeinated (although it wasn’t) and sold in Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
The FDA has classifed the recall as “category II,” which means “a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.”
If you happen to have a bag of this coffee and it’s unopened, don’t open it. Check the recall notice to find out what to do with the food item. In most cases, you can return it to the store where you bought it for a refund. If you can’t get to the store, dispose of the food item properly.
