Summer is always extremely hot in Disney World, but there are certain times when it’s hotter than normal, and you need to be REALLY careful.
If you’re heading to Disney World this weekend you’ll need to upgrade your staying cool tactics because it’s about to be EXTRA hot. Grab those cooling towels, mini fans, and big hats — here’s what you’ve got to watch out for.
The National Weather Service in Melbourne has warned Florida visitors about the upcoming weather on the way this weekend. Hot and humid conditions are forecasted for July 26th, with thankfully low chances of rain. However, a Heat Advisory is in effect for portions of east central Florida, including the counties where Disney World is located, for peak heat index values up to 108-110 degrees.
The temperatures themselves are going to be in the low to mid-90s, but that heat index is going to make things feel MUCH hotter. It’s important to stay hydrated and drink BEFORE you’re thirsty, wear light clothing (both in color and in fit), stay in the air conditioning when you can, and avoid doing activities outside during the heat of the day.
Orlando’s going to be one of the hottest in normal temperature, hitting around 98 degrees at the height of the day, which beats a previous record held in 1936, a whopping 89 years ago!
Additionally, if you’re at the beach in Florida, you’ll want to watch out for dangerous rip currents and breaking waves around two feet high. Rip currents can affect even the best swimmers, so this is something to really watch out for and be careful when swimming today!
