EPCOT features the World Showcase, which allows guests to travel the world, all while being in Orlando, Florida. We’ve tried snacks from all around the world, and usually, when we’re in EPCOT, we spend the majority of our time there.
We just got some new updates on the Japan Pavilion in EPCOT, and we’re not sure what to think about it.
Starting us off, at the Kabuki Cafe, Kakigori is now available in regular and large sizes, with the regular serving as a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan. You can also choose to add one to three toppings for an additional charge. Beyond just sweet milk, you can add coconut creme, pineapple creme, or mandarin orange.
The sushi there is still labeled as a snack credit, but the prices have increased to $10 to $12, compared to the original $6.25. They were originally “snack-sized” portions, but we’re assuming with almost double the price, more pieces will be included. The Tokyo Sushi Combo for $14 includes four pieces of a California Roll and three pieces of Nigiri, so we assume the other options come with a few pieces less.
There is big news at Katsura Grill, though — they no longer serve sushi! Ah! It also looks like the desserts were taken off the menu.
With all these changes, is it still worth stopping by? Well, it seems a lot harder to get sushi, which is a major reason we stopped by the Japan Pavilion. We used to love how cheap the suhi was at Kabuki Cafe, but now that it’s up to $10, it isn’t quite the easy snack we’re used to grabbing.
We love Kakigori as a sweet and refreshing treat on a hot summer day, and we’re happy to have more toppings to add to it, too.
Right now, the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is happening until November 22nd, featuring tons of food booths around EPCOT, including in the Japan Pavilion. We recommend stopping at the booths for limited-time food offerings versus Kabuki Cafe and Katsura Grill, which you can grab all year round.
