It’s no secret that we love Disney food, but we especially love DISNEYLAND food. The churros, the churro toffee, the churros (oh, wait, we said that), the cheesy garlic pretzel bread…Disneyland has some of our favorite snacks on Earth.
So when we learn about a new snack, especially one on a secret menu, we have to investigate, right? Well, we found such a snack at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, along with a new holiday drink. Yep, we tried both! And now we’re going to tell you what we thought.
Let’s start with the secret menu item, it’s Chicken Karaage for $16. Chicken karaage is a popular Japanese snack made with chicken thighs marinated in aromatics and spices and then coated in flour and fried. This chicken karaage at Trader Sam’s has a lovely light, crispy skin. Inside, the chicken is juicy and tender. We also got a sauce that was sort of like a super thick thousand island dressing.
Overall, we thought the price for the portion size you get was just about perfect. More importantly, though, we would take this over any of the regular Disneyland counter service chicken strips any old day. Our biggest complaint was the lack of a side. We would’ve loved this with some fries or maybe some battered and fried green beans.
We also tried a new holiday drink, Yuletide Cheers. It’s made with Zaya Rum, Domaine Ste Michelle Sparkling Wine, Pomegranate & Cranberry Juices, and Cinnamon Syrup for $19. Let’s just say the drink comes with a little surprise (we LOVE the bartenders at Trader Sam’s!).

The cinnamon syrup in the drink tastes artificial, so we had to try to get past that. It was strong in some sips and then non-existent in others, too. But the rum and fruit juices certainly made it feel festive. We didn’t get a lot of the sparkline wine, but it did add a nice bubbly effect on our tongue.
