When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle-of-the-road and comforting? Yep, that too. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that as well.
We recently stopped by Connections Eatery at EPCOT to try a plant-based option, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here!
We picked up the General Tso’s Tofu Salad from Connections Eatery for $12.49. This is made with a Petite Kale Blend, Romaine, Broccoli Slaw, Red Bell Pepper, Mandarin Oranges, Edamame, Crispy Wontons, Warm Fried Tofu, and General Tso’s Dressing.
This is an unbelievable offering for a quick-service restaurant. Everything about it — the ingredients, the quality of those ingredients, and the sophistication of the flavor — feels elevated while still being irresistible to what I think will be a very wide range of eaters. This is a real ten out of ten!
The salad comes already dressed, and the dressing is evenly distributed throughout. The tofu cubes are crispy on the outside but bouncy on the inside, almost like paneer. They’re somehow perfectly soaked in the General Tso’s dressing while still staying crisp, which honestly feels a little magical.
There’s sweetness in the dressing, but you also get bright hits of sweetness from the mandarin orange slices. The crispy wontons hold up despite being dressed. We never actually saw the broccoli slaw, though we did see fine strips of carrot; we didn’t see or taste the broccoli distinctly. The edamame was also hard to find at first, and the bell peppers were cut so small that we initially thought they weren’t included. We also got a bite of crispy wonton on its own that was extremely salty — a little shocking on its own.
That said, the good news is that once everything is mixed together, it’s perfect. The flavors balance out completely.
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
