The Anaheim Transportation Network is closing on March 31st, 2026. The ANT shuttles 8 million riders a year between resorts and tourist areas in Anaheim, California. ANT’s governing board will “conduct an orderly wind-down” until operations cease this March, per the Orange County Register.
The ATN has services to the ARTIC station, Platinum Triangle, downtown Anaheim, and Anaheim Canyon Metrolink Station. Its most notable route is the ART Bus, which serves Disneyland‘s park, hotels, and resort areas. Anaheim city officials have said that the ATN’s bus lines are critical for local tourism – but the city doesn’t have the funding.
The ATN has recently faced deficits in its budget. The hotels pay into their system based on the number of rooms, in addition to rider fares. But it’s not enough to offset rising labor costs – more than 70% of ATN’s costs go towards labor. The network had 74 vehicles in its fleet, with 33 buses, but most were five-passenger micro-transit vehicles used for its Free Rides Around the Neighborhood service. The report said ATN employed 66 drivers between two shifts a day.
Hotels that use ATN are now looking at other options. Disneyland officials are “aware of the situation, [we] recognize the value and importance of resort-area transportation for guests and are actively exploring next steps.”
The Orange County Transportation Authority report found that 75% of ATN’s routes are also serviced by OCTA, and the other 25% are within walking distance of the current OCTA routes. The city will “continue to look at innovations in transportation and options to connect our transit center in the Platinum Triangle to the resort area. That exploration, while in early stages, is ongoing,” according to Anaheim’s city spokesperson Mike Lyster. Anaheim has considered implementing another form of transportation to offset demand, including gondolas, trams, and autonomous vehicles.
While we’re sad to see the ART buses go, we’re excited for the new transportation projects Anaheim is planning. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disneyland news!
