Disneyland is celebrating a LOT of things right now, including its 70th Anniversary, with a celebration that will last through August 9th. However, February also brings about Celebrate Soulfully, as well as Valentine’s Day.
These celebrations mean one BIG thing: new treats throughout the resort! Now, we’ve already tried our share of 70th Anniversary treats, so now we’re trying a new Celebrate Soulfully snack (well, more like a meal) and some new Valentine’s Day offerings. So come with us as we taste our way through Disneyland’s new limited-time treats.
Let’s start with the Celebrate Soulfully snack. Celebrate Soulfully is a celebration that honors Black heritage and culture, including food. As part of that celebration this year, you can order the French Quarter Fried Chicken Bowl at Tiana’s Palace. For $17.99, you get a bowl with spicy honey-glazed fried chicken served with baked macaroni and cheese and collard greens. And trust us…you’ll want to get this bowl. It’s a full meal with juicy breaded chicken and a wonderfully sweet and spicy glaze. There is a mild heat to that spiciness, but it’s more on the line of Disney spicy.
The macaroni and cheese also has a ton of cheesy flavor. In fact, the cheese-to-macaroni ratio is a little off (it needs more macaroni). The collard greens also add a balanced flavor to the mix. It’s hearty, so don’t order it unless you’re hungry.
Okay, on to the Valentine’s Day treats, starting at The Tropical Hideaway. The DOLE Whip Strawberry Sundae is made with DOLE Whip, fresh diced strawberries, shortcake, and strawberry drizzle for $9.29. First, pucker up, because this sundae was TART. There’s probably a little TOO much of the strawberry drizzle, and we weren’t big fans of it because it tasted artificial, but we think if you’re a strawberry jelly fan, you’ll like it.
The strawberry shortcake on top added a nice texture to the creamy DOLE Whip. With that being said, though, this isn’t our favorite DOLE Whip sundae, but we think it’s still pretty pleasing.
Finally, the Valentine-themed Alien Macaron has landed at Alien Pizza Planet for $8.79. It’s green alien heart eyes macaron shells filled with vanilla buttercream and berry chesecake with a pink chocolate-dipped antenna. Of all the macarons we’ve had at Pizza Planet, this is our favorite. The berry cheesecake and vanilla filling go so well together with the crunchy macaron.
You’ve got the tartness of the berry, but it’s balanced by the cheesecake and buttercream. We’ll also say that of these three new snacks, this is our favorite, and we have plans to go back and order it again.
So there you have it, the three new limited-time snacks you need to order in Disneyland. We’ll keep getting you all the Disney food reviews, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
