Football is about to get a whole lot more Disney-fied over the next year!
Disney and ESPN have announced a yearlong celebration, “The Year of the Super Bowl,” ahead of ESPN’s first Super Bowl production in 2027. While we’ve already seen part of the new campaign, ESPN just revealed a TON more details about what this celebration will bring!
ESPN will host the Super Bowl in 2027 for the first time — and Disney is celebrating! “The Year of the Super Bowl” is starting now, and it will last all the way through early 2027. Expect to see Super Bowl-related moments across Disney Parks, ABC, ESPN, and other Disney platforms over the next 12 months.
While the initiative is led by ESPN and in collaboration with the NFL, the entire Walt Disney Company is getting in on the fun with Disney storytelling, characters, and fan experiences. Disney will be announcing moments and experiences gradually throughout the year.
It all started with “The Handoff” on Super Bowl Sunday, when Chris Berman — original ESPN icon and pillar of NFL coverage — ceremonially “handed off” to Scott Van Pelt.

The year-long storytelling initiative will include 61 Super Bowl Stories, illuminating the people, plays, and moments that define the Super Bowl. The weekly series “I Scored a Touchdown” will showcase the stories of players who reached the end zone on the Super Bowl stage. ESPN will spotlight 61 players ahead of Super Bowl LXI, with a new player unveiled on a mostly weekly basis over the next year.
ESPN also introduced a new weekly video podcast, “The Biggest Game,” hosted by Emmy-winning reporter Jeremy Schaap, which will feature a rotating lineup of distinguished guests. The series will revisit six decades of unforgettable Super Bowl moments. The premiere episode featuring Chris Berman is available now.

As “The Year of the Super Bowl” unfolds, ESPN and Disney will release new stories, celebratory moments, and creative experiences. Fans can expect to see:
- Fresh narrative arcs and original content tied to key offseason moments
- Spotlight integrations at cornerstone league events, including the NFL Draft, Monday Night Football games, and more
- Expanded cross-company collaborations leveraging Disney’s characters, franchises, and platforms
- New programming and fan experiences unveiled surrounding and during the 2026-27 NFL season
- Content across every platform throughout the year

Disney recently debuted its “We’re Going” campaign, featuring a commercial with a TON of Disney characters and more. The commercial opens with that iconic first “I’m going to Disney World” commercial starring Phil Simms in 1987 before switching to Woody and Buzz from Toy Story, saying they wish they could go to the Super Bowl. You can check it out below:
We can’t wait to see what sort of fun experiences this campaign will bring to Disney Parks and beyond, and we’ll be on the lookout for even more news about what we can expect. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest updates from Disney and beyond!
