We recently set off on a NEW adventure across the galaxy, and it’s almost time for more Disney World fans to do the same!
We got to experience the newly revamped Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Magic Kingdom during a preview, and it’ll be reopening to the public on April 8th. The ride has seen some significant changes, but there’s one change Disney’s contemplating that could make fans very disappointed!
We recently learned from a Cast Member at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin that the free “Galactic Hero” stickers may not be returning when the ride reopens! An official decision hasn’t been made yet, but their future is in jeopardy because the way the ride is scored has been changed.
In the old version of this ride in Magic Kingdom, the score for each blaster would max out at 999,999. If you maxed out the score, you would achieve the legendary title of “Galactic Hero” (according to the end of the ride scoreboard). Those who scored 999,999 could take a picture of their score, then present that photo at the ride’s gift shop to get a free Galactic Hero sticker.
We even saw some instances where they ran out of stickers, and celebration buttons were given in their place.
However, with the revamp of the ride, scores are no longer capped at 999,999 — you can now score more than 1 million. Along with that, 1 million points is the bar you must meet to be considered a Galactic Hero. The scoreboard has been updated at the end of the ride to reflect this.
Since there’s no longer a maximum score, the Galactic Hero stickers are still “under discussion.” This new version of the ride may provide more opportunities for people to score higher, meaning that Disney would possibly need more stickers on hand if they did offer them.
Ultimately, we’ll have to wait and see when the ride officially reopens if they are offered. We’ll make sure to report back!

We are a family of 3 and my son always insists on being the one on his own. He reaches 999,999 part way through the ride and then slides over to the other blaster to do the same again. He will miss the stickers if they go because he always reaches 2 Galactic Heroes each ride!
