Disney World has rules, most of which you probably know, but there are some that you might be breaking in the parks.

Magic Kingdom
Planning a trip to Walt Disney World usually means focusing on Lightning Lanes and dining reservations, but there’s something else you shouldn’t overlook before heading to the parks. There are plenty of rules guests are expected to follow, and chances are, you may have broken a few without even realizing it. No one likes to admit when they’re in the wrong, but it’s time to take a closer look. Let’s call out some of the rules you might be breaking at Magic Kingdom.
1. Feeding the Animals
At Magic Kingdom, you’ll spot a variety of animals like birds, ducks, and squirrels. As cute as they are, it’s important not to touch or feed them. Disney clearly states: “Feeding, petting, touching, harassing, or harming any wildlife, including birds, is prohibited.” You may see guests tossing popcorn to the animals, but even with good intentions, this can be harmful because human food can make them sick or lead to injury. It’s also important to remind children not to chase them, as that is considered harassment. Let’s all do our part to respectfully share the magic with these furry (and feathered) park residents.

2. Blocking the Walkways
While watching a parade or fireworks at Magic Kingdom, you may hear Cast Members asking guests to keep moving. This is because Disney policy prohibits “obstructing sidewalks, entrances, driveways, patios, vestibules, stairways, corridors, halls, or landings.” If you’re not within a designated, taped-off viewing area, you’ll need to continue walking. These rules are in place for everyone’s safety, so it’s important to follow Cast Member instructions. It can be frustrating trying to find a good view, but arriving early and securing a spot ahead of time will save you from a last-minute scramble.

3. Bringing Prohibited Items
There is a long list of items that are prohibited at Disney World, but there might be a few things you would be surprised about. For example, guests cannot bring “objects or toys that appear to be firearms or weapons“. Now, this does not include the fake swords you can buy your kiddo at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean. You also cannot bring glass containers (excluding small containers such as baby food jars). Stroller wagons are also prohibited. Be sure to keep this in mind before you come to Magic Kingdom.

4. Using a Tripod or Selfie Stick

No Selfie Sticks!
5. Being Rude to Guests and Cast Members
We know that there are times you might get frustrated while at the Magic Kingdom. A ride suddenly breaks down, you miss your dining reservation, or something else happens, but you should be considerate of others. Disney’s rule is “Please show common courtesy to fellow Guests and our Cast Members by not using profanity or engaging in unsafe, illegal, disruptive, or offensive behavior, jumping lines, or saving places in lines for others.”

Mad Tea Party
This is also a good reminder not to jump in line or save places for others. Don’t send someone to your party to park the stroller while you go ahead to get in line, and think they should just be able to skip ahead. Your whole party should enter the line together.

it’s a Small World
