One of the best reasons to stay at a Disney World hotel is all of the perks that you receive during your stay, especially free transportation!
All Disney Resorts provide bus transportation to and from the parks; however, some resorts offer additional transportation options as well. And one of the most popular modes of transportation is officially open again at Wilderness Lodge!
Guests at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge have the opportunity to take a boat to and from Magic Kingdom. This is one of the most fun forms of Disney Transportation. The docks have been closed since April 13, so guests have missed this major perk of staying at the hotel.
However, the dock refurbishment is over, and the boats are once again traveling to and from the park! But the reopening has not been as smooth as expected.
Currently, only one of the two docks is open and operating. We spoke to the Watercraft Cast Members, and they informed us that they are having issues with the lighting of the dock, so they are currently operating with temporary lights as they continue to work on the electricity.
This lighting issue is under the dock, so unfortunately, they have had to reopen a few sections to continue working. Currently, the Magic Kingdom boat is running. However, despite part of the dock currently being worked on, the Cast Members are confident that the other boat should be able to start running to Fort Wilderness and the Contemporary later today.
Which is another major perk of this transportation! Guests can take this boat to more than just the Magic Kingdom. The boats also run to the Contemporary Resort and Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. This allows guests to resort hop and enjoy the offerings of some other resorts. For example, you could grab dinner and drinks at Steakhouse 71 or California Grill at the Contemporary.
Or float over to Fort Wilderness, where you can have dinner at the hootin’ and hollerin’ Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue! This additional transportation is an incredible perk of staying at Wilderness Lodge, and we are so happy it has returned for guests to enjoy, and hopefully, both sides will be operational by later today!
We will make sure to update you if anything changes on the dock reopening, so stay tuned with Disney Food Blog so you never miss anything!
