Disney World is expanding and changing a LOT these days!

There are several new lands in development around the theme parks, like Villains Land, Piston Peak, Monsters, Inc. Land, and more. Outside of the theme parks, there are also several new developments, like transportation changes and refurbishments. One of the most anticipated updates is Disney’s brand new hotel, Lakeshore Lodge, and we have a NEW look at construction.

Lakeshore Lodge is really starting to take shape! The upcoming Disney Vacation Club hotel is slated to open in summer 2027, and we couldn’t be more eager to see it completed. We’ve been following the construction of this hotel since it was first announced (way back before it was even Lakeshore Lodge). As we inch closer to the opening year, there are some big updates in store.

The hotel, which is located on the former home of Disney’s River Country water park near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, is “inspired by Walt Disney’s lifelong admiration for the great outdoors” and will feature lots of familiar Disney characters throughout the resort.

One of the most exciting parts of the hotel’s construction is the CLEAR view of that new lazy river! Disney recently shared concept art and details about the highly anticipated pool area, which will be called The Wetlands. It will have larger-than-life theming and the lazy Daydream River!

Lakeside Lagoon will be a zero-entry pool for guests of all ages, and it will be the center of The Wetlands. It’ll feature a spiral waterslide, a section dedicated to children called Heron Shores, and so much more. We have long speculated that this hotel would feature a major lazy river and pool area, so Disney confirming it was a pretty exciting time for us!

The hotel will also have a boat dock (for transportation to Magic Kingdom, we assume) and a quiet pool, which you can see below.

In the new aerial photos, you can clearly see the shape of the hotel, the transportation dock, the pool, and the parking area for guests once the hotel opens. Pioneer Hall at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort can be seen in the bottom left corner of this photo to give you a gauge of where this new resort is located in comparison to other Disney World locations.
