Spaceship Earth
EPCOT‘s iconic Spaceship Earth attraction is the landmark of the park, but the attraction itself has not seen an upgrade in a while; however, soon, that’s all going to change! During the “Horizons: A Carousel of Progress” panel at D23, we learned that this ride will be getting some new magic soon.
We’re at D23, where a ton of news is coming out about the latest in Disney parks. The current attraction celebrates human communication; however, Disney shared that the new version will focus on human connection.

Disney Imagineer Ali Rubinstein announced that Spaceship Earth is getting an update for the first time in nearly 20 years. The reimagining will bring the classic attraction into the present day and beyond. The attraction itself is a testament to the park’s dedication to innovation, as it’s one of the most complicated ride systems Walt Disney Imagineering has ever created. The ride incorporates a continuously moving train of vehicles that spiral up before turning “backward” to come back down to Earth.
Spaceship Earth
There will be new magic added to every scene on Spaceship Earth. It will be celebrating the progress made possible through human connection. Spaceship Earth itself will remain classically EPCOT. While Disney did not share a timeline for when we could see these changes, we will keep our eyes out for more news.
If you are thinking “Didn’t Spaceship Earth recently get a refurb?” The answer is yes, kind of. Yes, Spaceship Earth did get a refurbishment last fall. But if you were hoping that meant a big, juicy glow-up, the reality was much more modest. When the ride reopened in October 2025, there were no new scenes, no narration change, and no major story overhaul.
Inside Spaceship Earth
Back at D23 in 2019, Disney said Spaceship Earth would remain a voyage through time, but the journey would transform with new scenes, a new guide, and all-new narration focused on storytelling and the shared human experience. It looks like that will finally be happening.
